Work Description: Installation of 1,400 square feet of vinyl sheet flooring, rubber baseboards, and minor drywall patches.Comments: Contractor called back 3 minutes after the original request was submitted, showed up on time for the initial interview, and had a respectable price for the work. Based on contractor's recommendations we ordered all tools and materials need for the install via the contractors desk at Lowes.
Contractor retrieved them and brought them to the site.
Install took 3 days longer than originally quoted. Contractor used enough glue to cover 5,500 square feet, which left horrible ripples and air bubbles under the vinyl. They tracked adhesive throughout the entire job which ruined the appearance of brand new vinyl. Adhesive was also slopped onto the freshly painted walls which required repainting. Made no efforts to have clean and matching seams. Vinyl was torn in corners and/or cut either too short or too long, all done freehand so the cuts were completely inconsistent.
Contractor stated that the work had been completed on two separate occasions. The work was not even close to complete at those points. Contractor attempted to gain access to the site one day after he was "finished" by lying to an onsite manager stating that he had my permission to enter. He was denied entry and I was immediately notified.
I ended up bringing in a second team of people to attempt to fix the work. They spent 3 days sanding, repainting walls, and attempting to smooth out inconsistencies in the flooring. They were unable to repair the botched floor install but did get it to a half-way decent state by running a 100 pound roller over it for 2 days straight and effectively squeezing excess glue out like rolling a tube of toothpaste. In the end we're going to have to rip it all out and start again.
Could not be more disappointed with contractor's workmanship and timeliness.
