Work Description: Demo and tile complete home and bathroom walls and showers.
Comments: Dane came to give an estimate and was very impressive with his large tool box and floor leveling system. He gave us a great price with a 7-10 day completion, mainly because we agreed to give him all the furniture and appliances inside. I buy and remodel homes for a living but unfortunately had to rely on new contractors for my beach home in St. George Island. I came to the property 18 days later and found him living in our property with his girlfriend Pegan and his two young children. The house was a complete mess with most of the furniture still inside. He tiled two rooms halfway and some did not even have thin set applied. His girlfriend was cooking eggs and bacon and continued to feed her kids even though we were standing right in front of her. They had the refrigerator filled with food and a playpen and toys everywhere. He kept making excuses why he was not done and the house was the way it was. After I stated that he could not stay, he begged to not kick out his family. I am upset because I gave him a 40% deposit with me buying all materials. I explained his family cannot live in our property and he was already suppose to be finished. He explained that he would arrive the next day to work but when he did not arrive, I terminated him. Dane and his girlfriend are on serious drugs, including having his "babysitter" which I found out was his drug dealer come to the house. I felt bad for the children but unfortunately they left before I could call children services. He is a smooth talker. Do not give him money up front. He will give all the excuses in the world why he needs it, including hiring laborers.Tallahassee FL

Comments: Difficulty getting the job started because of his transportation difficulty. Was to start 9ish on Tuesday Did not show until 2:30 pm. Commited to be back 9ish Wednesday. Again late in afternoon stating that he was researching product. Did a very nice job on the wall tile as well as countertop this day. Gave me a sad story about needed to be paid because of emergency and agreed that he would give the tub a reglaze free of charge if I could pay him for the work completed as well as the painting of the vanity and the hanging of the bath mirror. I did so because he promised to come early Thursday and complete the entire job. It rained and he said that he could not work with the product during high humidity. However he never called to cancel...I had to track him down. He again promised to come early on Friday to complete work. No show..no call..Late Friday he stated that he was in court on Friday (could have told me earlier)..Apologized profusely scheduled to work on Saturday at 9AM. Texted me that it would be 10 or so when he came. Stated that his tools were locked in a friends garage and he could not find them. Again scheduled for Sunday (today) It is after three in afternoon and I have yet to hear from him. I have requested the work to be completed or the $140 paid for the extra work to be refunded. It appears to be a game for him. Very difficult for a senior. I was without a shower or sink for five days until he told me yesterday to use shower. Before he said to keep fan on and add no humidity. I have been going to relatives to shower for this week.

Work Description: Subway tiled backsplash in kitchen and floor around fireplace.
Comments: Dane is currently in between phases at my house so I will update and finish this review when he is completely done. Overall, he has done a great job with a difficult task. We are in the middle of completely renovating an older home (1952), and with older homes, nothing is easy. Walls aren't exactly straight and the floors aren't even, but Dane came in and did amazing job given the difficult circumstances. He did a basic subway tile backsplash in the kitchen and then did a complex 45 degree herringbone pattern on the floor in front of the fireplace and it looks absolutely beautiful. He did such a great job that we have expanded the project and next he will be continuing the herringbone pattern up the front of the fireplace. In regards to Tim's review, I understand where he is coming from and why he could think what he does, but he couldn't be more dead wrong. The day after Dane started our project, his only vehicle broke down and has caused a mess in his transportation and ability to get to jobs. Dane is an honest, hardworking guy who wants his work to be perfect (even to the point where he redid some of it because it wasn't exactly right - due to the very uneven floors and not because of his work). He simply ran into a series of unfortunate circumstances with his vehicle and some issues that have come up that have set him back a couple of weeks. Would highly recommend Dane to anyone. Great pricing that can't be beat because he does all of the work himself and doesn't hire out. Again, will update once job is completely finished but definitely trust him and am very happy with the work he has done.Punta Gorda FL

Comments: Capable of quality work but because of his lack of time management he puts himself in a time constraint and his work quality suffers. Be sure all his promises are in writing.
