Comments: Great experience overall. They were on time and performed the work exactly like we requested. Their bid was much lower than any other company I had talked with But the work was better then expected. They cleaned up and took all the debris with them instead of leaving for bulk trash pick up.

Work Description: Cut down Pecan tree and remove stump from backyard

Comments: The good news: price was reasonable
The bad news: They were very messy. I was told that they would fill the stump hole with sawdust. Great! When they finished, my entire yard and my horizontal fence rails were covered with sawdust. I asked them to clean up the areas that were not by the tree and they did. However, they left a blanket of pecan shells covering my yard that I didn't notice till they were gone.

I called Jay and he said they would come back to clean up. A week later I texted and asked for a date they were coming. They came the following week.

I told them not to worry about the areas of the yard that had mulch as I figured it would be hard to get the shells off without disturbing the mulch. Apparently he didn't hear that. They blew the majority of the shells and the majority of my mulch and bagged it.

When I saw the mulched areas later, I asked Jay what he would charge me to lay new mulch if I bought the mulch. He quoted me $150. When I balked at that, he brought it down to $75. That just seemed unreasonable. I asked him to just put my yard back the way he found it. He suggested I use what they had bagged and pick out the pecan shells! FUrther attempts to resolve the issue were completely ignored by the owner. No response to texts or Facebook message.

His big sales pitch was what good guys they were and how they wanted to help people. I had asked him to quote some landscape work in the spring. I like to form relationships with businesses that care. Didn't quite work out that way.
Dear Lauren, First and foremost, we provided the services exactly as agreed upon. Upon removal of pecan tree, as one would expect, there is a substantial amount of sawdust, which, as discussed was used to fill the hole. As for cleaning up pecan shells but not disturbing any mulch in which they were on top of and "buried within", we did come back out at NO Charge to clean and bag pecans which amounted to Two 50 gallon contractor bags full, and included dog fecies, and yes, some existing mulch. Since this was not part of the proposal/quote or verbal agreement, I proposed a discounted price to replace the mulch for $150 (material + labor included). Ms.Mack was not satisfied with my $0 profit proposal, so I then, offered to split the cost 50/50, ($75 her cost). Despite my efforts to accomodate, Ms. Mack declined my offer(s). As far as ignoring any communications, I answered every message i received as promptly as possible. I realize that we cannot make 100% of customers satisfied 100% of the time. BUT WE TRY!!!!!! We, at VCA strive for customer satisfaction and long term customers. We deeply regret falling short in this case and we welcome the opportunity to make up for it in the future. Comments: Veterans Cut Above Tree Service was fabulous. I had a huge Cottonwood Tree struck by lightning and was terrified it would fall and damage my house. This crew was was aware of the urgency of the situation. They were quick, efficient and did a great job cleaning up after the removal. I will definitely recommend Veterans Cut Above Tree Service and will definitely have them out to service a couple other problem trees we have.
