Work Description: Concrete paving, compacted decomposed granite, fencing, metal gate repair, block walls, landscaping, paver seating area
Comments: Who knew that 60 yards of exposed sand finish, reinforced concrete could have an artistic flair. Carlos, the guy in charge of setting the rebar and finishing the concrete, installed a number of extra expansion lines in the slab as it was finished which resulted in a very nice-looking parking area at the top of our driveway which included a short, block wall along 2 sides. O & R Landscaping should be your choice if you want your driveway/parking area done right (5.5 inches of extra strength concrete placed with 3/8” rebar on 24” centers over 2” of compacted base. Rebar doweled into the edge of driveway coming up the slope and into front edge of garage floor slab.) O and R also did several other projects for us: installed a paver seating area by entry door; installed an RV parking area with compacted, decomposed granite; salvaged the 1”x12” dog ear cedar boards on over 200’ of fence and replaced the 4x4 fenceposts with pressure treated ones set in concrete along with new horizontal 2x4’s to screw the salvaged boards to; stained the rebuilt fence; replaced two 5’ concrete block walls; arranged for all of the wrought iron gates to be removed, touched up as needed, powder coated with textured powder coat; installed our new mail box with pedestal on a new concrete base; oiled all of the redwood siding on the house; and, to tie all of this together, installed gorilla hair around the plants/trees in the extensive planting areas around the house and down by the street.Our thanks to Roger and the artisans at O and R Landscaping – O and R ( Roger, Ricardo, job foreman Guillermo “Memo”, Bobby, Caesar, Gabriel), Concrete (Carlos (rebar placement, low block wall, finishing and paver area), Fabian, Andres, Alex, Alex’s brother Edward, Joel; Fencing (Rogelio - Roger’s father in law); Gates (Javier and Jose); Concrete Pumper (Jose), Concrete Finishing (Danny (lead finisher), David, Osvaldo, Uber, Alfredo, Alberto, Jose, Magdelano, Juan), Redwood Siding Oiling (Roger’s Uncle Ruben).

Work Description: Landscaping and installation of structures in large backyard
Comments: Spent about $150,000 to landscape backyard, outdoor kitchen, and patios. Work was delayed several times totaling almost 7 months and took 6 months instead of 3 as promised. Some excuses valid (Covid, rain, etc.), some not ("running late", "forgot", "was that what I said"?, etc.) Learned that Roger's excellent in-person rapport was not to be trusted.Major work was completed in Spring of 2022 and I foolishly paid the balance. Once paid, Roger's work went from much delayed to completely absent. A variety of projects were undone (electrical work to make kitchen function, planting large pots, properly installing irrigation... ) and others proved wrong, missing, or incompetent. These ranged from an improperly installed oven to a leaky roof, and inadequate drainage.
Roger appeared eminently trustworthy and honorable. We found him to be neither and now question his competence as well.
