Work Description: Concrete Driveway and (stolen material money for) Front Porch Addition

Comments: Precision CONstruction and the owner Charles Galloway are not professional at all! Charles will tell you what you want to hear but do the exact opposite!

We hired Charles to do a Two Phase Project: 1)  driveway extension and 2) build stone pillars and a roof extension.

One weekend while my husband and I were out of town, he backed into my husband's truck, which luckily we had it recorded on camera (thanks to CPI). When Charles was confronted on the matter, he said he had nothing to do with the truck damage and continued to lie about it even after being told there was video evidence!

We had paid for materials up front for the projects and Charles completely quit the job not even half way thru stating he can quit a contract anytime he wanted to and started to ignore all of our text messages and phone calls; he actually BLOCKED us! (NOT professional at ALL!)

Speaking of PROFESSIONALISM, that HE does not have. He shows up to the job late, he works a couple hours at a time and done for the day; doesn't show up when he says he will-- makes alot of excuses, and not to mention you have to remind him and his crew to clean up after themselves after the day is done.

He now has an outstanding lawsuit against him and has been confronted a few times to pay up and he even swore on his son's life he would repay his debts!

As of right now, he has written us one check which can't even be cashed because his account funds were insufficient, so instead it ended up charging our account a fee!

So if you are even considering hiring Charles and his crew,  do yourself a favor and run away from these liars and thiefs, and hire a true professional! Learn from our Mistake!

And not to mention,  he was hired to start/complete this job last summer in June '20 and the fact he has been dodging us all this time! We have given him ample time to pay us back and not posted any reviews until now!

After all the headache we've been thru with Charles and his Company, I found that his company website is a JOKE! It is plagiarized from other sites and is using stocked photos,  it is none his own work!

PLEASE SHARE THIS POST so EVERYONE can avoid hiring CHARLES GALLOWAY and his so-called  "Christian-based" , "Veteran-based", "33 years of experience" company PRECISION CONSTRUCTION  in Morganton, NC.

Work Description: Driveway & sidewalk

Comments: I liked these guys. I liked them so much that I offered to have them put a sign in the yard while the work was going on to help refer more business. I liked them so much that I referred them to our friends - who purchased a sun-room and deck.

We contracted Charles and Precision for a driveway and sidewalk. Ours was in horrible shape, probably having been last done in the 1950's. We had almost as much grass as concrete.

Charles came out and provided an estimate ($9000) that looked fair, so we accepted. Before beginning the work, Charles informed us that it would be another $1000.00 for "taxes" that he had not included on the bid. We nearly decided to go out for additional estimates or hold off but were so ready to get it done that we just paid it.

Charles said work would begin on X date. That day arrived and no-show. I called. He said he was waiting on a dumpster to haul the concrete off in (3rd party). No problem. We waited another week and they showed up. They worked in the rain and shine and completed the job in good time. If this was the end of review...5 stars.

Here's where they lose a couple. See the pics posted. Their finishing skills need work:

- The brushed finish was spotty with obvious places missed

- The slag was pushed up against borders and walls and not troweled, leaving sloppy lumps and piles of concrete at the edges.

- More slag was brushed (or allowed to run into) into the 5' drain. We had to make an emergency call during the first heavy storm - a week after completion. Jimmy showed up quickly to clean out the 75% plugged drain while water rushed through our garage.

- Two piles of waste concrete were dumped in the middle of the yard. I did give permission for them to fill in holes with it but it was just dumped anywhere.

- The cuts were made with a hand saw, not a larger walk-behind concrete saw, so are sloppy, don't go to most edges, and are crooked - one so bad that they backed up and started over (see image).

- One of the framing boards was probably warped, leading to a fat-lip edge on one side.

- Framing posts and a metal spike were left behind. Piles of slag concrete and debris were not picked up. When I called them for a final walk-around with fix-it items, they came out and removed the spikes, patched the driveway end with asphalt (poorly and without tamping), and left, saying they would be back to take care of the 3" gap at the end and fix/finish the slag. They came back and did a 2nd asphalt patch with a tamp that looks better but never resolved the other items. The images here are their final product.

I am greatly concerned with the long term prospects of their work. Charles claimed that using rakes to pull up the metal screening was sufficient as opposed to pinning it up in a rebar framework. He claimed that the many trips made with the skid loader and dump truck had packed down the soil sufficiently that no crushed stone or underlay was needed. We are seeing hairline cracks already at the sidewalk junction and almost every expansion.
