Work Description: Bathroom Remodel

Comments: This contractor is truly awful in both quality of work and timeliness. Do not use him. We hired him to renovate a master bathroom and convert a laundry room into a mudroom. He missed deadline after deadline (his own projections of when the job would be completed), and still showed up after 10AM most days, went missing for hours at a time, and continued leaving early (3PM), even after we told him that our expectation was that he work on our job, every day until it was completed (he was a month behind!). Some days he would show up after 12PM, and then try to work until 7PM, for his own convenience. Definitely not appropriate for residential work. His measurements were completely off, so ordered $100s of dollars of marble tile that was never needed. To make matters worse, he uses one helper, who he continued to leave unattended, even after we told him that we wanted him to have supervision. According to Cassiano, this worker was the reason our basement was flooded (twice) when they failed to properly close a water connection after the toilet was removed and didn't allow it to extend into the drain. According to Cassiano, this worker also caused a leak behind the wall, which was only discovered when we made Cassiano remove crooked wall tiles he installed. We asked him time and again not to leave the worker without a supervisor and told him we would send him home if he did not have a supervisor. He did not care and continued to do it. It was clear that towards the middle of the job, he started another job and this caused him to be here less and less, making it take twice as long to finish. We left our home for a long weekend. He told us that everything would be done when we got back. Of course, it was not. He did not call us to tell us that it wasn't done and then tried to lie and say he worked all weekend, when our cameras showed he was not there. When he got sick, he again blamed him poor worker, saying it was his fault because he got sick and couldn't come. Again, ignoring the fact that a helper should not be left unattended. Cassiano claims that an owner like him should not always have to be with his helper. So obviously his ability to commit to deadlines (even the ones he came up with) is awful, but to make matters worse, the quality of his work is equally as bad. Without asking us, he cut through the shelves of a solid wood vanity to install plumbing, instead of installing the pipes behind the wall. This mistake is compounded by the fact that he charged us more because he supposedly needed to hire a plumber and then never bothered getting one. He left yesterday (we were just happy to see him go). Paint remains all over the tile that he installed in the mudroom (they don't use drop cloths) , grout is missing from in between the tiles, and he never replaced the drop ceiling tiles he damaged during the 2 basement floods he caused. His work is very sloppy, which is actually an understatement. In fact, I just noticed, he didn't even bother to replace molding behind a vanity that has feet, exposing the wall behind. He installed tiles crookedly with cuts that are not straight. He even left a hole in shelves that he built in the basement. Beware because both his work ethic and quality of his work are terrible. I see other negative reviews for the same reasons. He told us that he was sued by someone because he continued to miss deadlines (he blamed them because they wanted permits pulled). There is no way to post pictures, otherwise we would. We paid him, just to get rid of him, but we will need to bring someone else in to clean-up after him. And he does all the cuts of wood and tile in your garage and then doesn't bother sweeping up the dust that remains.

Work Description: PVC TILE TO KITCHEN FLOOR.

Comments: HE CHARGED 3X WHAT ANOTHER CONTRACTOR BID, but when he said he didn't need the wood I'd been recommended and bought to level the floor prior to tiling AND that he'd return it to the store (which sold me despite the high cost of the job), I decided to contract with him. He did NOT tile the pantry floor which I'd asked him to do. The floor heaves up near the pantry because it is uneven. There is a place by the counter where a tile split to accommodate a lump of rein that should have been removed... If he had arrived on time, he may have had time to fix these problems and returned the wood. Diogenes and I are still looking for an honest contractor.
