Work Description: Paint entire home
Comments: Let me start by saying that Russell is a great guy who I believe does absolute strive to have integrity and be honest…but this job has seemed to be too much for him and is lending to dishonesty and a lack of integrity.This job started for us in AUGUST 2022. It is now early February and the job is still incomplete…but far worse than incomplete, it was done with such POOR quality that within only a day or so of baseboards, doors, etc being painted, the paint was peeling off and scratching. There is still tape left up on our ceiling in many places. Doors are not painted completely + there are giant globs of paint from the paint sprayer and runs literally everywhere. Several pieces of furniture have paint all over it. Almost all our hardware has paint all over it. Doors are literally falling off hinges after being taken down and put back up incorrectly so many times that the screw holes are stripped.
From the start of the project, Russell assured me that we’d have a team of 4 guys. We never had more than 2 and those 2 guys typically arrived around 9:30/10, took a 2 hour lunch break from 11:45-1:30/2 then left by 3:30/4 on the days they actually came. Communication is a whole different topic too. Time and time again, I would have to reach out to Russell MANY times with no response. He’d finally respond and say he’d be there at X date and time…and never show. If he did show, it was always always hours and hours after what we were told. After him pleading with me to pay more than the initial deposit which was outlined in the contract, I was foolish and went against my better judgement and paid for work that was not even close to being done…work that is still incomplete. Our real wood plantation shutters are absolutely awful. We have peeling + chunky + running paint all over them. Several are not even painted. After it became abundantly clear that Russell’s guys were not going to work a full day, my husband and I decided we should paint walls and trim ourselves. Between my husband and I, we painted 2 entire rooms and half the trim and living room walls ourselves.
We have been overflowing with patience and grace with Russell yet the sporadic communication I get is him saying he is confused and he thought I was happy…despite clear, consistent communication on our end about the incredibly poor workmanship specifically on the shutters, doors, and trim. We are now having to find another painter to repair the issues created by Painters Plus…which will cost thousands. I could go on and on about many other issues but goodness, we are so exhausted dealing with this. So so frustrating.
So all that to say, if you need only one or two small walls painted, sure, use them and you’ll probably be fine. Never ever let them paint anything other than a wall. We are overwhelmed, exhausted, have been continually lied to, and have lost thousand of dollars + so much energy to Painters Plus. We have tons of compassion for Russell bc we see that he is in over his head here but the right thing to do (which would be refund the appropriate amount of money according to the incomplete + poorly done work) has yet to be done. I shouldn’t be hopeful anymore but I still am hopeful that the right thing will be done. If it is, I 100% will update here.
