Jiffy Plumbing & Heating is a full-line residential and light commercial mechanical, plumbing and remodeling contractor serving over 10,000 clients annually in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area. By approaching service, repairs and replacement operations from a volume standpoint, we are able to consistently offer quality low-cost jobs for home or business. Jiffy Plumbing & Heating serves the Washington metropolitan area and southern Maryland with a fleet of approximately fifty vehicles. We are active members of the Metropolitan Washington Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Contractors’ Association (MWPHCC). Additionally, our seventy-five employees participate in events such as “Christmas in April” and “Toys for Tots,” and Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts.
Although the Romans are popularly credited with bringing the advantages of plumbing to civilization, more relevant credit should go to the group of men in the mid to late 1800's who designed and built the nations early civil water delivery and waste removal systems.
During the 1990’s, the Washington metropolitan area, and much of the nation, underwent a wave of mechanical company consolidations¹. Local companies that had been operating successfully for many years were acquired by newly formed national concerns, among them, the local gas utility, Washington Gas & Light. Within the space of four years, companies were bought and sold and then resold; these consolidations created tumult among the workers and office staff of the local plumbing and mechanical industry.
The founding workers and managers of Jiffy Plumbing & Heating were drawn from the rapidly changing environment by the vision of a new company; a company whose character was built on the foundation of years of experience and understanding of the issues that are important to the end user. Too often in the past, companies, bosses and the mechanics themselves presented a “you should be glad I’m here” attitude with the customer. We knew what customers wanted and we molded their requests into something of which we are extremely proud, that is, our CUSTOMER BILL OF RIGHTS.
In all work that we do to help the public and our customers, there are six bedrock principles upon which our customers can rely. Jiffy's unique Customer Bill of Rights is as follows:

We have developed a high degree of employee awareness for our CUSTOMER BILL OF RIGHTS, and a large amount of public notice. If, as they say, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, our competitors who are now beginning to imitate our “Customer Bill of Rights” flatter us. Our employees are guided by these principles and understand the true basis of our business…YOU, the consumer. Without your continuing support, this site, these words and ideals and our daily work would not be possible.
As these words are written, the company and the country are weathering the recession and the chill winter temps of early 2010. Each year, our company, like many people, makes New Year’s resolutions.
This year, we have instituted accounting changes, and we are undertaking a series of efforts aimed at upgrading our customer services abilities, things such as wearing protective shoe covering, training sessions, etc.
We will be celebrating our 10th anniversary this summer. During the decade of our life we have come to the certain belief that a company is only as good as its employees.
At Jiffy, we are extremely proud of the fact that our employee longevity measure is highly favorable of 49 current employees, only 8 or 12 % were hired more recently than Nov. 2007. In fact our average tenure is 4 ½ years. The effect of this is better customer service and better customer satisfaction. More experience hands equals less problems.
We are trying our best to keep current with the new products and installation methods such as solar and geothermal, and ultra high efficiency split or package systems.
This year and the next, Jiffy will continue to refine our efforts to create a widely respected and thoroughly professional where customer and employee needs are full filled quickly and completely.

Work Description: Jiffy Plumbing & Heating take care of the heating, air conditioning, and the fire place, and everything else I need them to do for me.Comments: I have had them for at least 20 years. They are very friendly and I trust them so much I just leave the key for them under the carpet.
