Comments: Before the job: I specifically told Rona when he came to quote the job that I was not doing tile to upgrade. I was tiling to level the floor and then upgrade. I told him this while he was here to quote. On the day of the job, I open the door and the first thing he asked me was, :Did you buy the Durock?" Rona did not tell me to buy any materials, therefore the price he quoted was not accurate. There are tile companies that supply grout and mortar. BEFORE they started work, I told him, his son Rona, and Damon that I need the dip in the floor level, I was not doing this to upgrade, I was doing it to level the floor and then apply tile. So that is TWICE that RONA got this message. Because he did not tell me a materials list, I was left scurrying at the last-minute buying materials so they could start. When buying materials Rona said he would purchase the Schleuter strip, but when the job was done, he wanted me to buy the transition strip stating I said I would buy it, when I did not. I told Damon and Rona III several times that I needed the dip in the floor gone. Damon made a suggestion, but Rona III said, "That would be changing the job" They told me, that means we would have to cut the door jamb, "So what" I said from the beginning and did not waiver that I did not want to see the dip in the floor. So, they had me buy some self-leveler, and applied to the high area of the large bathroom, and not the dip in the floor. So, in essence they made the high part even higher, and did not put any on the dip in the main bathroom. They put in the laundry room where the WASHER AND DRYER COVER IT UP, but in the open floor, nothing. RONA was not there to supervise Rona III or Damon. He told them to use his 8-foot leveler as they tiled. When I went in there, they were not doing it. Additionally, I bought 2 gallons of grout. I calculated how much I needed on Floor and Decor's website based upon the width of the tile, the length of the tile, the thickness of the tile, and the square footage. One gallon of grout was enough to cover 208 square feet. My bathroom was 196. So why did they need two gallons? I told him I would have additional grout if they needed it, but instead of buying another 55-gallon tub I bought the bag of grout that they have to mix. At that point in time RONA the father, said, well, with the premix grout they use different water than we do? What? different water? When RONA came to see why Rona III and Damon put the leveler on the high part he called ANAL. I over head Damon talking about me he said, "She is.." But Rona hushed him. So I am ANAL for telling you what I want at the quote, telling you what I want before you start, and making sure you know though the job? The reason for it, is once tiles are down, it is hard to get them back up. I told them time and time again I did not want them to tile DOWN to the level of the floor. What did they do? they did not level the floor as much as possible before starting, and tiled down to the floor. Additionally, I tried to tell them to grout and tape the seams, and even that, they RONA the father said he did not have to do. They put grout on top of the Hardi backer when they could have put it under it to level it. When I asked them about it he said, well we can put it on top too. When the job was over he complained and said, well we usually put it under the Hardi backer. The question here is, if YOU KNEW at the quote and BEFORE you started that the floor was not level, and YOU KNEW it needed to be level, why in the name of what is good and righteous did you not level the floor as much as possible before tiling. Soince they were in my house for 8 days, I was not feelign well one day and asked Rona III could they start later, he promptly said no, tomorrow is a regulare work day. So I agreed to waht he wanted adn was up adn at them early. DO YOU KNOW HE DID NOT SHOW UP AT MY HOUSE UNTIL 1130? So I asked him could he come later, he said not. Then, he has me get up to meet him, and then he is later. I was pissed. Rona, the father said, well for customer service....I stopped him right there. Customer service would be to do what I asked, come in later. Customer service is not to tell me to be ready EARLY, and you SHOW UP LATER. So, I sent RONA the father two text messages and two emails about this, he did not answer me. BUT keep in mind, he can call me after the sale to get the extra money he thought he was owed for quarter round. After he got his money, radio silence. I heard nothing from him. I did not want to write this review, but he brought it on himself by not answering one phone call or one text. Everything I said here is true. I have the same dip in my floor that was there when they started. So I conclude one of three things, none of which are acceptable 1. They did not know how to level the floor 2. They did not understand what I was saying or 3. They knew how to level the floor and understood what I was saying but did not do it. NONE OF THESE is acceptable. So, if you need your floor level to tile, Xcellent Flooring, LLC may not be the people for you. If you need service after the sale, Xcellent Flooring may not be the people for you. It's such a shame, I got over 1000 square feet of work to do downstairs, but since it took them 8 days to do 196 square feet of tile, I don't think I could have them here for 2 weeks.Atlanta GA
