Work Description: replaced a 4 inch section of pex water line
Comments: My flooring contractor sent this plumber to the house after pulling a section of trim in the bathroom pulled a nail out of a pex water line, causing a small leak (the nail had acted as a plug for 7 years since the house was built). Since it was an urgent situation, I didn't think to ask how much it would cost... I was just glad somebody was available to fix it right away. Afterwards, I was shocked to see a bill for $620 for what amounted to about 40 minutes of work to replace a 4 inch section of pex. I called the owner and asked for a detailed invoice of the breakdown for that price and he refused to send me one. He did acknowledge that the parts cost $25 and that the labor was $595. When I told him he was charging me over $600 per hour he took $100 off the price. Before receiving the invoice, I had already rescheduled the reinstallation of the toilet and pedestal sink with him, since we needed to complete the flooring project ASAP. Once I saw the invoice for the water line repair, I asked him to send me a quote for how much the toilet and pedestal sink reinstallation was going to cost me. He send me a quote for $1200 to reinstall a toilet and sink. Long story short... I would think twice about hiring this company to do any plumbing work! The icing on the cake was that the owner got irritated with me when I told him I needed to shop around due to the price of his quote. He said if you are going to shop around, I'm going to take you off the schedule!
