Work Description: Screen in porch and build a roof over exiting deck

Comments: I entered into a contract with Blue Star Construction ( Jacob Wilson) on 12/2022
It was supposed to be completed by March 2023 but they were a no show and no communication, he wouldn’t return my calls it all went to voicemail until his voicemail was full then he finally called me and they finally started to show up but the only would work a day or two then something would happen and no show for 4 or 5 days. I was asked at the beginning to pay a third down which I did, the people they sent down here didn’t know anything about building a roof or screening in a porch , this was his words but I agree with him he kept saying he would make it right . Well he hasn’t. I contacted the Better Business Bureau , he is no longer affiliated with them so buyer beware. I would not trust Jacob or Blue Star Construction to walk my dog because they wouldn’t know how to do it. So it you had something done from him consider your self very lucky, I was scammed by him

Work Description: Tile Floor Install

Comments: Courteous and they gave me a reasonable price for their work. They ask for 30 percent up front (for which they provided a receipt), The balance is due after the work is completed. This is a small outfit and they are eager to please. Their sales person, Tristan, is delightful.

Work Description: Replace concrete porch pad and walkway

Comments: I entered into a contract with this company on 10/12/21. Since that time I have had 3 mason/concrete laborers assigned to do the work but all work has been substandard/flawed. The company has been paid. They have continually refused to return my calls and failed to complete the job as required. They have left large construction debris in my front yard and they have just stopped all communication. I could write a book of all the broken promises and general lack of professionalism they have shown. Jacob Wilson and Kirkland Tucker should not be allowed to run a company that rips off customers. They are grifters and I guess I have ended up being their mark. Shameful!

Work Description: Shower Re-Tile

Comments: Blue Star Construction would not be my first choice in the future if I had work to be done around my home again, regardless of the project. My wife and I recently contracted with them to remodel a shower for us at our home. Being a disabled veteran, the fact that they advertise themselves as Veteran friendly (we hire Veterans, we offer a discount to Veterans, etc) we were initially impressed with Jacob, as you will learn he was our first contact with the company. Blue Star was quick to respond to our request for an estimate, and made arrangements to come within a couple of days to look over the project. The quote was not the lowest that we received, but Jacob assured us that the crew he had in mind to do our project were “tile experts” and had done over 3700 tile jobs, and what we were requesting would not be a difficult task. We picked our tiles on a Thursday, and were scheduled to start the job on the following Monday. Keep in mind we were told that this would be a 2 ½ day project start to finish and we should be done by Wednesday.
Well, Monday came, and when 11 AM came and went there were still no workers at my home working on my bath. Having had some experience with construction in my day, I found this odd, as most of the time work days typically start fairly early. Shortly after noon a two man crew arrived and began to remove the tile from my existing shower. This lasted until 1500 (3pm) at which time the man in charge informed me they had “done all we are going to do for the day, we’ll see you in the morning” and left. So keep in mind, I was being charged for a day of labor, and received less than 3 hours of work. On day one, less than one of the three walls of existing tile was removed and the crew stopped working after 3 hours.
Tuesday comes, and again, naively I expected the “crew” to be at my home early since so little was actually accomplished on day one. Imagine my surprise when they arrived at approximately 1000, and that is me being generous. Regardless, work did not start anywhere close to “early” and it was not long after work started that the gentleman in charge came to inform me that what I had contracted for “would not be possible” and asked if I would be ok with changing from large tile to smaller tile on the floor pan of my shower. Not being the “tile expert” I agreed, only asking that the job be “done right”. Again later that day, approximately 1400-1430 (2-2:30) the gentleman in charge came to me and informed me that they would have to be leaving early that day, but assured me that Wednesday would be a “long day” and the job would be done.
Wednesday, true to his word the “crew” showed up early 0900 and worked that day until roughly 1700-1730. They made decent progress, but the shower was obviously not going to be finished that day.
I believe it was Thursday that the crew came back to grout, and reinstall what was a fairly new shower door, caulk and what I thought would be clean and haul the debris (as I had paid for that as well) that I finally noticed (by taking my shoes off and standing in the shower) that the floor was so unlevel that it was not even bearable to stand on, they had not even leveled the drain, simply tiled over ¼ of the existing drain. I immediately called Jacob, who sent out another crew to look at the mess that was my shower. They agreed that the job was sloppy, and again that is me being kind.
Friday the floor was torn up, leveled, drain raised, re-grouted, shower door installed, caulked, and the “crew” left. As they were leaving they told me how I could go to Lowes and buy what was needed to seal the grout myself…apparently that was not included in what I paid for as a part of a shower remodel. And neither was hauling off debris and cleaning the mess (though Jacob acknowledged to me that yes I was charged and paid for that) but it was all left on my back deck, so after sealing the tile, I was also left to remove the mess I paid to have removed as a part of the contract.
Come Monday morning the shower is FINALLY ready to use (keep in mind this was supposed to have been ready on Wednesday) First shower in, was my wife, followed by me. Upon exiting the shower I notice that there is water running into the floor of the shower. So, I look to see where it is coming from, and discover it is running from UNDER the shower door, under the caulk, which has apparently not been laid well, and so once again I take photos, a video, and send this to Jacob. As typical through this whole process Jacob was quick to respond, he assured me they would send the gentleman back to re-caulk the door.
The gentleman that did the tile and caulk even called me to assure me he would be up that afternoon at 1730 to “take care of it”. I believe that was on Thursday of that week, keep in mind my timeline may be a little off as this is going on the second week of a 3 day project.
I waited that day at my home until 1840, no one came to do what they had been paid to do, which was properly install my shower. However, the next morning, at 1030 (approximately) with no warning, the gentleman showed up at my house, obviously upset that he had been sent back to “correct” the leaking shower door, walked through my garage into my home office and informed me he was going to fix the issue. Another layer of caulk was hastily applied, and he left. The leak however, was not repaired.

On Sunday 18 July I spoke with Jacob by phone to inform him that there was still an issue with the door leaking and that my wife and I were simply going to have to do the work we had paid his company to do ourselves. He informed me to keep a receipt for my supplies that I needed from Lowes and that he would come by on Tuesday 20 May or Wed 21 July and we would “settle up”. I asked for a line item breakdown for what I had been charged since I paid for clean-up… that was not done. He told me I would get back $150.00 for that work that was undone. He apologized numerous times asking “what can I do to make this right?” Given the fact that when my wife and I removed the shower door we noticed that when it was re-installed part of the reason it was not sealing was 1) it had not even been cleaned before it was reinstalled 2) there was no caulk placed under the track between the track and the tile 3) The caulk was never smoothed or “finished” after the bead was applied. Jacob is excellent at words. I have yet to see actions behind those words.
On a final note…Let me say, I have tried to be patient with Jacob, and Blue Star in general. And Jacob was super quick to respond to my calls, texts, and emails…right until the moment my last check cleared. If you recall he assured me he would be here to “Settle up” and to “make things right” given that the job was not done properly, it is now 26 Jul 21 . Well now that he has been fully paid, guess who has not shown been quick to return calls (called me once last Thursday about 1300 – I could not talk, no communication since), nor has he responded to my messages. That’s right… Jacob.
Don’t be fooled…pretty words and pretty pictures can hide a lot.
