Comments: As a homeowner for over forty years - I've contracted over a dozen seal coating and driveway paving companies in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Mike is absolutely the best! His estimates by far beat every other asphalt/paving contractor and his professionalism far exceeds any contractor I've dealt with in all types of services.When I first used Mike some years ago, He promptly called me back answering all of my questions and quickly came out to provide an estimate. With Mike, a handshake is all you need to complete the job as he's old school when it comes to service with a quality job. I was amazed at how he completed seal coating my driveway within a very short time of giving me an estimate. He is meticulous cleaning all debris before seal coating and also filled in gaps along my garage door openings which had sunk down over the years. After referring him to many of my neighbors, they too are happy customers and they still thank me for referring Mike months after he seal coated their driveways. Mike also uses asphalt emulsion which he explains is way better than other contractors who use coal tar that has an extremely hard shell coating that has major drawbacks such as when the weather changes from fall to winter, and winter to spring, asphalt continuously expands and contracts. Unfortunately, the hardened coal tar on top of the asphalt does not expand and contract at the same rate as the asphalt, causing the coal tar sealant to crack. Continued use of coal tar sealer always results in spider web cracking of the sealer itself. The asphalt emulsion that Mike uses is flexible like the original asphalt driveway so the coating doesn't crack. Since asphalt emulsion sealers are made using the same materials found in your asphalt, the sealcoat is absorbed into the asphalt and expands and contracts at the same rate as your asphalt, leaving you with no sealer cracking with continued use. Also Mike told me that another important difference is coal tar has cancerous hydrocarbons so as the seal coat wears on your driveway or parking lot, these PAH’s turn to dust and are carried away within the surrounding soil, making its way into streams, lakes, air ducts, and even your carpet. No driveway contractor ever explained the difference in products they use like Mike did and I am glad his company is environmental safe which protects not only the environment but you as well. I fully recommend Allied Asphalt for any seal coating or paving project as you'll find Mike is a true expert as what he does.
