Work Description: Basement Refinish, Egress Install, Patio Doors Intall

Comments: We wish we would have seen the other review on here before we hired Rich Maaske. What an absolute nightmare it was hiring him. We hired Rich to demo and complete the finish of our basement along with installing an egress window, 2 patio doors, and re-framing an existing window.

Nothing went right! He never put sill pans in both windows even after correction notices were given - we had to correct it! The sheetrock joints were never attached to the 2x4 framing and instead he spray foamed it for adherence and made the sheetrock bulge. We had to correct that too. He also installed green sheetrock on exterior walls with vapor barrier. When we asked him about this he said oh its common practice, sheet rockers use left over pieces all of the time. The city gave him correction notices and we fixed that too! Our shower leaked because he did not install the drain right. He also installed the cold and hot water shutoff behind the drawers of the vanity. The framing was another issue too. In one area the framing was so bad that the sheetrock bowed out. His answer was to use enormous amounts of mud to make it flush.

This contractor is a bully, a liar, and does not provide good workmanship or materials as he promises. Run from him!

MNCIS Court Cases:

We did everything we could to make this customer happy. They refused to let us in to make the one correction notice. There was only one, not multiple as the above review indicates. We had been in contact with the building inspector and he was fully aware of this fact and acknowledged that they were hindering the progress and completion of the work. All other work had been inspected from start to finish and had passed building code and was signed off by the building inspector. When this case went to court they were awarded nothing on their claim due to lack of evidence that we did any wrong and due to their lack of cooperation to let us access the property to make the correction that the inspector wanted made.
