Work Description: Handyman - Attic Stairs Installation
Comments: DO NOT HIRE THEM! I hired "Peter" to install attic stairs. He arrived with his helper. He cut the opening, it wasn't sqared like it should be. He suggested setting the stairs higher in the ceiling then putting sheet rock on the door right before he left for the evening. I thought about his idea and thought it made terrible sense as over time the sheet rock would start to break apart. I informed him that I wanted it set correctly; flush to the ceiling. I had a very hard time to get him to return, but he finally did and corrected the setting. I wanted him to leave, I told him that I would finish the job myself; plastering the ceiling installing the trim moldings, which I did. Beware- this guy is very sloppy and careless! He dropped hammers and pry bars numerous times damaging my hardwood floors, the framing of the joists in my attic were done poorly, the wood he used to not sitting square and secured poorly. The directions of the attic stairs has a warning NOT to use deck screws or sheet rock screws but ONLY lag bolts that were included. There were to go into the pre-drilled holes ONLY... well he used deck screws and split the wood frame... sorry I hired him. In the 22 years of home ownership, this guy was the absolute worst...Queens Village NY
