Work Description: Backyard landscaping
Comments: Please be warned of this company and do not take the risk of hiring them for your landscaping.I hired this company to re-do the landscaping in my backyard which involved pouring concrete, laying pavers, installing artificial turf, decomposed granite, and a planter bed of wood chips around the border.
The first problem, which I did not realize was an issue until I read the law later on, was he requested much more for an initial deposit than is allowed by law. The entire project cost was $15,400. He requested a $3400 deposit and two further payments of $6000 each as certain stages of the project were completed.
However he proceeded to demand further payments before completing parts of the project that we established would justify a payment. I received multiple phone calls and text messages begging for this money stating that he could not afford to continue the project unless I paid him more money. I held my ground and did not pay until the required steps were completed.
When it came time to where he said the project was completed and he wanted the final check, I did an inspection and was very disappointed. He did not even hook up the drip line to the timer, he did not fill in the planter bed with a sufficient amount of wood chips, he did not put back a portion of my fence that had to be removed in order to pour the concrete, and worst of all he did not even complete one entire side of the planter bed of my yard.
He still wanted payment and promised he would come back. At this point I did not trust him and insisted he finished the project before I gave him the final check. He begrudgingly came back the next day and finish the project to my satisfaction at which point I gave him the final check of $6000.
Fast forward a month later, and I get a lien notice in the mail from the concrete pouring company stating that he had not paid them and they were now coming after me for the payment. I along with their collections person have made multiple attempts to contact Jose-Diego, the owner of quality turf and Landscape, to get the payment of $300 which he owes them.
He will not pay them and I have filed a BBB complaint. He is avoiding our phone calls and text messages saying he already provided payment. He provided a check that bounced and a credit card that was declined.
Again, save yourself the trouble!!
