Designer Picks: Drawer Pulls

Interior designer Linda Merrill picks drawer pulls that act like jewelry for your home.

Photo: Knobs by Susan Goldstick, Inc.Cabinet hardware serves a very important function, but it is also considered the jewelry of a space. Instead of just using serviceable but plain ceramic or metal round knobs and pulls, consider adding a little style and sparkle to your cabinets. The right pulls, like the right earrings or necklace, will light up the space. Here are some of my favorite drawer pulls.

Vintage-style glass drawer pulls

Vintage style is back in a big way and glass pulls are the perfect way to add some laid back sparkle to your cabinetry. Genuine vintage pulls are readily available, as are reproduction ones that hold all the same appeal at extremely reasonable prices.

Pomegranate knobs by Du Verre Hardware

The work of metalsmith Heinz Pfleger is the inspiration for these Pomegranate knobs by Du Verre Hardware. The detail of these knobs, which was inspired by nature, ads an elegant detail to the simple round or square forms of the pulls themselves. Made from environmentally friendly recycled aluminum, the knobs are finished to look like Oil Rubbed Bronze or Satin Nickel.

Martin Pierce animal knobs

Creativity is the word when it comes to these insect and animal inspired pulls from Martin Pierce. Whether it is bats, frogs or dragonflies, these are miniature works of metalsmithing art.

Twist basket wrought iron pull by Top Knobs

The twist basket wrought iron pull is a classic in design and works well with many design styles from Country to Cosmopolitan. Top Knobs’ Normandy collection features a wide range of designs and sizes on this theme.

Swarovski crystal ball drawer pulls

Speaking of jewelry, these Swarovski “crystal ball” pulls will bring the sparkle and zing to any space. Perfect for master bathrooms and changing rooms or anywhere that can handle the drama.

Susan Goldstick one-of-a-kind knobs and pulls

Susan Goldstick, Inc. creates truly one-of-a-kind knobs and pulls mixing colorful finishes with jewels and metalwork. These handmade gems come in a plethora of jewel tones and bring a lot of fun and fantasy to the market.

Spectra Decor beach pebble pulls

Soft and organic, Beach Pebble pulls from Spectra Décor are made from recycled glass with lead-free pewter. These soft colors could easily be mixed and matched, just as they might be found in nature. Perfect for a spa-bath retreat!

Vintage-style cabinet pulls from Anthropologie

Anthropologie is a brand known for it’s mix of vintage style and unique colors. Their cabinet pulls fit this style perfectly and is a go-to source for those looking for colorful, retro-chic style.

Hand painted pulls from Kiss My Style

Kiss My Style offers a collection of whimsical, hand painted pulls that would be perfect for any child’s room, including baseballs, fire trucks and hippie-chick floral designs.

Clay overlay drawer pulls from Gloryworks

Gloryworks on Etsy has created a unique line of cabinet pulls from standard products that are then overlaid with clay and then baked on. The designs are bright and colorful with a very interesting tie-dye effect.
