Work Description: Siding repair
Comments: We have an 1976 contemporary era home with original cedar siding. I had a hard time finding someone who had experience doing repair work on such expensive and delicate material until I found Vail-Syde Construction. Ruston was an absolute professional and pleasure to work with. He showed up when he said he would, didn’t try to upsell me, was able to source the cedar siding which is not readily available and does top quality work in a timely manner. He and his crew put our house back together beautifully and we are thrilled to have found such a great company to work with. I have hired many subcontractors for our home renovation over the last year and Ruston is a stand out. I plan to use them in the future for all our siding repairs.Salisbury NC

Work Description: Roof Repair
Comments: My roof had a leak, due to 3 shingles being out of place (possibly wind damage). The roof is 17 years old, so I decided to have that entire section, about 3 ft. wide by 2 ft. deep, replaced with new shingles, to avoid having mismatched shingles in that space and for visual appeal from the street. A few other tasks were supposed to be done (i.e. flashing and boot collars replaced, nail pops addressed). Lane Vail, co-owner of Vail-Syde Construction and contractor, informed me that I would be receiving a 2-yr. transferable warranty, to give to the buyer of my home, when I sell. I never received the warranty they promised. That was a bogus promise.Moreover, after Vail-Syde Construction completed the job, I noticed that they had put mismatched shingles in the section that was supposed to contain all new shingles (for which I paid extra money). I have no assurance that they did all the repairs they were suppose to do. As a female, I cannot get on my roof, and Vail-Syde did not take any photos of the various components to be repaired, before they started the job. Neither did they take photos of things they repaired or replaced, when the job was, supposedly, finished. The proposal they gave me, before completing the job, had no breakdown of costs for each component to be repaired or replaced. It contains only a total at the bottom. I requested a breakdown of the cost of each item to be repaired or replaced. I thought that was a reasonable request, but they refused to give me a breakdown. I do not recommend this company.
