Work Description: crawl space drainage

Comments: We used this company for crawl space renovations. We needed new drainage and a sump pump installed, as well as new vapor barrier and insulation. Included with our contract was installation of two new crawl space access doors. In the beginning, I was looking forward to working with a local small business. Drew, the owner's son, said their reputation as a good company was very important to them and they would really like our business. This meant a lot to me at the time and it made me feel like we were in good hands.

We had numerous communication issues with this company on numerous occasions. The communication issues that we had were with Drew and the Office Manager, Brenda. On more than one occasion, Brenda was extremely rude and unprofessional; making it more difficult to work with this company. Brenda even called and argued with us as to when bills were due and when money needed to be paid, even though it was already in a contract. TBC wanted to charge us $1250.00 for two new crawl space doors. The work that was described in our contract did not reflect the work that took place in constructing these doors. The white particle board was reused from the original door cover, the wood that was used to build the frame for the smaller door was reclaimed wood or old wood from other projects. One of the pieces is a left over floor board. Both of the doorways to the crawl space were already framed out, so the only thing this company did was put door latches on and use reclaimed wood for a frame. When we called the company, we spoke to Drew and Brenda about or dissatisfaction with the work that was done on these doors. We told them we did not feel comfortable paying more than $50 for the doors because it was not worth more than that. After arguing with Brenda, the price was dropped to $200 for poorly made doors that we had to fix to meet our needs. Drew offered to have his technician come out to fix the doors, but we declined. If this was a representation of the work, we would have done it ourselves.

After all of the work was completed, we went into the crawl space to inspect the work. We found our cable junction box underneath the vapor barrier and the dryer duct was disconnected to the outside vent. We put our trust in this company and are greatly disappointed. We wonder what it would have been like had we chosen a different company to do this work. We sent pictures to Drew and we have tried to discuss our concerns with this project but we feel like all of our concerns have fallen on deaf ears. For the amount of money that we have paid, I expected better and would not recommend this company.
