Work Description: Hot tub electrical work, shed power

Comments: DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN. He completely destroyed my brand new hot tub. The mother board had to be replaced, because he did not even read the directions that clearly indicated the wattage. In addition, he supposedly brought power to my shed and the first time we tried to use it it blew up in my contractor's hand. Fortunately he wasn't injured, but it was a blatant hazard. He does not even have a license from what we could find - DO NOT HIRE HIM.

Work Description: Sustainable Lighting: Nice try, Bill Barrett. I have the paperwork to prove you are a liar from Royal Pool and Spas. I also have paperwork from the City of Beacon to show that you were not in compliance with code, and all of your work had to be done over by Burke Electric (another paper trail). Royal Pool DID NOT say you were without fault; to the contrary, they had to replace the entire motherboard because Bill Barrett placed in the wrong amps, had he read the instructions that came with the tub the situation may have had a different outcome. I have all the paperwork to show that Bill Barrett did a shoddy job in his attempt to hook up my hot tub, and all of his work had to be re-done.

Comments: What a liar.

Work Description: Hot tub hook-up

Comments: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Bill Barrett RUINED my brand new hot tub. He hooked it up with the wrong amps, and did not even follow local code in the location of the electric box. He cost me hundreds of dollars in repair work, and then when brought to small claims court had his insurance company's lawyer show up and try to sue me back (but lost) for not paying him for the shoddy work. Royal Pools and Spa can attest to his shoddy work, as can the City of Beacon. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
In late summer of 2016 I did some electrical for Susan Ruckdeschel of Beacon NY. The last bit of work was to run a circuit for a USED hot tub. It had been the demonstration floor model in a showroom for Royal Pools. After wiring the tub, the first time I energized it the tub blew up one leg of a two pole, 50 AMP GFI breaker (at $125 cost to me). The used tub was defective. As the homeowner had threatened to sue me, I contacted tech services at Sundance Spas, the manufacturer of the tub and explained how I wired it and what had happened to it, as I was going to be sued by the homeowner. They said I had done nothing wrong and that it sounded like the motherboard was defective. They added that Royal Pools should have replaced the motherboard under warranty. As an aside I will add that since then I have wired two other hot tubs the same way without any problems. I received notice that Ruckdeschel was suing me in the City of Kingston, NY court attempting to claw back money for other work unrelated to the hot tub. I countersued for non-payment of the hot tub wiring in the amount of $1,257.93. Our court date was January 9, 2017. There, despite her lying repeatedly under oath the court found against her and that her suit was baseless. This angered her and she went into a rage, screaming and cursing at the judge all while she was gathering her things to leave. The judge asked if she was leaving before the countersuit was heard. She replied, “oh the countersuit. I filed for bankruptcy, not for the first time, in the southern district of NY under a chapter that makes her immune to judgments for 5 years. The judge wondered why we were even there that day. I will be taking the $1,257.93 off of my taxes as uncollectable debt this filing. All NY court decisions are public and you can look these findings up. I wonder why this is being brought up 13 months after the court adjudicated this matter against her. I would suggest that Networxs not connect her to any other contractors unless they like working for free and being sued. Further I would suggest Networx tread carefully in abetting her smear campaign, as it is probably libelous and by aiding and abetting her that they will be liable. And lastly, if Networx has made her smear and libel public, they should take it down immediately. Bill Barrett, Owner, Sustainable Lighting

Work Description: Install a legrand Adorne light switch

Comments: I believe the easiest job an electrician can do is to install a light switch-and the electrician that came to my house had no clue what he was doing .At one point looking at me for answers.i had a legrand adorne switch and he knew nothing about the installation. He put the switch upside down--there is a tab on the switch that read TOP and he had it incorrect.after spending time in my home not accomplishing anything he charged me 100 dollars and left.I contacted the legrand company and they informed me the problem is definitely the incompetence of the electrician.I called the electrician and told him what they said and he made another appointment to come look at it again-and never showed up
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO I RECOMMEND ANYONE USING THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!
Let me address the concerns of this customer. First of all, he told me that he’d purchased this programmable switch a long time ago, so long that he no longer had the packaging, receipt, or instructions. He had installed it himself, but had it wired incorrectly and was very frustrated with it. I rewired the switch, but it still did not work. I then checked the wiring using a regular mechanical switch, and it worked fine. I reconnected the programmable switch, and bypassed the switch and the light worked. I then told the customer that the wiring was fine, but that I was sure the switch itself was faulty, and to contact the manufacturer. I charged him $100 for the 2 hours I was there troubleshooting, and I also rewired two regular switches that were inoperable so they worked again during that time. Later that evening, the customer called me and said that the manufacturer told him that I had wired the programmable switch incorrectly, but I fail to see how they would know that unless they went to his house. He wanted me to return to look at it again, to which I originally agreed. However, after thought, I realized that there was nothing more I could do. I sent him an email (below) to that effect, and told him to contact the manufacturer again, and I also offered to speak to a tech person on my own time. The next response from him was this “review” of my work. Here is the text of my email to the customer: “Greg, After further thought I am certain that the “Smart Switch” is defective. Let’s review the history. You bought the switch and tried to install it yourself. That installation was incorrect. At that point you called in help. I found that the switch was miswired and corrected that mistake. The switch still didn’t work. I then installed a mechanical switch and the light worked. I then reinstalled the smart switch, put a voltage tester from the traveler screw to the common screw and the light worked. This is because the electricity bypassed the switch, flowed through the voltage tester to the lamp. This means that the switch is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. If you want to have the manufacturers tech people talk to me give them my # and I will be happy to. Bill Barrett; Sustainable Lighting”
