Comments: Our warranty company chose this contractor to do our HVAC repair. They came out and found the issue, but took pictures of our Evaporator fan and outside unit and told the warranty company that our unit was dirty and that it was going to cost over $700 to clean it. I called the warranty company and they told me that maintenance was my responsibility. They also told me that I could hire whomever to clean it. I told them that I had a cleaning contract with a company that was rated by the BBB as A+ and that cleaning had been done. The warranty company told me that Carolina Aire said it needed cleaning. I found a local HVAC company that came out and examined both parts and told me that they weren't dirty. I paid them to clean it anyway at substantially less than what was quoted by Carolina Aire. Carolina Aire finally came out and replaced the coils and reassembled our unit. It worked while the Technician was here. A short time later, the unit was no longer working and we were running on emergency heat again. I called out another HVAC person and we replaced a relay on the outside unit and it still would not run properly. This person went under our house and found that the thermostat wire was not connected. Once he connected it, our unit turned on. I would not recommend this company ever again and I have sent a formal letter to my home warranty company to NEVER send this company to me again.

Comments: Carolina Aire Systems was assigned to do a fall tune up. After assessment of my system, they suggested an upgrade. My current system was 20 years old. They walked me through the process of replacing my system. The date of installation was set and the techs were prompt and professional. I am satisfied with my decision and would recommend them highly.

Comments: We have been assigned Carolina Aire Systems a few times over the last couple years, and every experience with them has been worse than the one before. They consistently forget to return calls, order replacement parts, and put us on the schedule for repairs. Last year they refused to fix one of our furnaces until we paid for a cleaning, which our warranty won’t reimburse. We are 13 days without heat at this point, and we were supposed to be on the schedule for repair this morning. When we called to follow up, we discovered we weren’t on their schedule for today at all. We are so disappointed with the customer service of this company and there is little hope of seeing improvements; please learn from our mistakes!

Comments: My interaction with Carolina Aire Systems out of Lexington, NC, was beyond infuriating. My home warranty company dispatched them to assess my AC unit, and they claimed that the coil needed replacement. Their subsequent invoice, totaling nearly three thousand dollars, appeared to be a desperate attempt to coerce me into footing the bill for what they insisted was necessary to bring everything "to code."

However, upon closer examination, it became glaringly obvious that this company had artificially items on the invoice by an astonishing 300%. For example, when I sought clarification regarding the alleged requirement for $600 in duct work, just to replace a coil, they deftly evaded my questions and failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. To add to the absurdity, they brazenly attempted to charge me an outrageous $375 for a switch that is valued at a mere $35, being generous. Their response to my valid concerns was nothing short of dismissive: "These are our fixed prices, and we do not engage in negotiations." Remarkably, they displayed a complete lack of interest in addressing my concerns or providing any reasonable justification for their outrageously high charges.

What made matters even worse was that this entire invoice was based on their insistence that everything be brought "to code." However, it turns out that their claims were entirely fallacious. Multiple city officials and even the head city inspector, in writing, stated that their assertion was incorrect unless the entire system was to be replaced. To add to the deception, they emailed me fabricated code violations. When I attempted to get the company to clarify these violations, they once again evaded the question, further adding to my frustration.

Carolina Aire Systems' unethical behavior and blatant attempts to extract money from unsuspecting customers are truly reprehensible. I implore others to steer clear of this company, as their practices are nothing short of a disgrace. It is deeply disheartening that such unscrupulous businesses are allowed to continue operating. I strongly advise avoiding them at all costs to spare yourself the aggravation and disillusionment that I have experienced firsthand.

Comments: We had the absolute best experience you could have spending the money on a new system. We started down this road with a warranty company, so expectations were low. Definitely turned out way better than expected. From the owner down to the techs, the professionalism was outstanding. The replacement system was installed on a timely matter, and with the communication from Teresa, we always new when and what was going on. Would and have recommended to anybody!!

Comments: The unit works great!! However I have had issues with the system in the wiring, air handler fan they have been called out to my house several times as the system just didn't work well, it would not cut off where programmed. They did find the problem and it is working as it should !!! They would get someone out soon as they could, they would get it back up but there was a problem with the internal wiring and they have got it corrected so now I will see what that fix brings to the party.

The field guys very great and were very tidy when they were finished. I will tell all my friends and family about this top notch company.

Work Description: AC Repair

Comments: I just can't describe the lack of professionalism and lack of consideration from the owner of this company and his employees!
on August 10th, my AC broke and I reported it to AHS (my home warranty), they assigned Total Comfort to come and repair my AC.
As per the contract with my home warranty, Total Comfort was supposed to contact me within 24 hours (which did not happen). So, I contacted them, and their customer service specialist responded very nonchalantly with “oh yeah sorry we are really busy and proceed to schedule me for Friday August 14th. The technician came on that day, did an inspection of the unit, and left saying that he would contact the home warranty with his diagnosis.
The days went by (4 to be exact) and since I didn't hear from anybody on Tuesday August 18th I called Total Comfort to see what was going on, and the rep I spoke to informed me that her boss hadn’t been able to send the report to AHS yet.....
Really? I was very nice asking/begging her to please ask her boss to send the report because I was already 8 days without AC, she said "I will try" but he is also on the field and he is very busy ....Really?
You shouldn’t take services that you can’t fulfill adequately.
Since AGAIN I didn't hear back from anybody, I called my warranty company on Wednesday August 19th and they said the company didn't send them the diagnose yet and they couldn't do anything.
When I explained to them that they had already been to my house several days ago to inspect the AC unit and when I called Total Comfort I was basically told that the owner didn’t have the time to send the diagnose yet, the rep with my home warranty took the initiative to call them directly, but couldn't get thru to them, because most of the time they don't answer the phone, and ask you to send a text message or an email instead... which they don’t respond to either, because the home warranty did this twice and I did three times and nobody ever responded or called us back!
Finally after me begging and asking for some consideration a few days later that I had to call once again, the customer service rep told me that the issue was not only how “busy they were” but that their portal was down and he would have to call the company himself to inform them of his diagnoses(NEW EXCUSE ), as to why it had been 7 days and they had still not submitted anything!
On August 21st 7 days after they came to my house and 11 days without AC, I called Total Comfort to see if they had heard back from the home warranty and when they would be coming back to fix the unit, the rep was very dismissive and said that once she got the authorization she "Would TRY" her best to schedule me!
Honestly I expected either the owner and/or the CS rep be apologetic and say "as soon as we hear from the Home Warranty since we already were so negligent and made you wait for so long we will send a technician right away" but not at all , all I got was an attitude and like they were doing me a favor and there is nothing better they could do!!!!
LONG STORY SHORT, I REQUESTED THE HOME WARRANTY TO ASSIGNED ME TO ANOTHER COMPANY TO GET THE JOB DONE, BECAUSE I WAS MELTING WITHOUT AC IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER. THIS COMPANY GOT THE JOB DONE IN LESS THEN 3 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are really the worst AC company I ever had to deal with!!! they don't even deserve 1 star... 5 negative stars would be acceptable for their lack of professionalism and lack of consideration with their customers!!!
This is not a made up story, I am a real customer who had a horrific experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spare yourself the stress and DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
