Comments: Well over a year ago I signed a contract and handed over a $5,000. 00 check to Sofos construction , a Mr. Joe Buono gladly took my my check. In these 14+ months I’ve been feed lies about permitting, denied my deposit back and even threatened with a slander lawsuit for sharing my experience. This was a simple job of a detached garage totaling $19,000.00 completed. The ONLY thing I have been provided with is a pdf file of useless drawings for a structure that , most likely, wasn’t going to happen from the start. Mr Buono argues about his entitlement to my money ,as we had a contract, a contract is about work and product, none of which have been performed.This hasn’t been enough aggravation or of a bad experience, now I get to spend time at the courthouse in hopes to retrieve my $5,000.00

Comments: SCAM. Joe Buono and Sofos Construction will take your money and run. He operates in Pinells and Hillsborough counties. Do your research!!!Joe quoted me for a pergola in May 2020. It’s January 2021 and $1000 dollar deposit later with zero action. Joe spent months giving me excuses for the delays to our project. We provided a 1K dollar deposit for drawings and a permit. The permit was never filed. Joe emailed me on 12/24/20 asking for an additional 2K dollars because he could not “afford” materials upfront. This was not the agreement. He outlined 1K upfront, 2K mid project, and remaining when project completed. Any quality or well-run business has a line of credit. It is clear from his recent employee review that he does not pay his bills, pay his employees, or act with integrity. Joe agreed to refund our “permit” cost and yet again refuses to return emails or phone calls.
Additional details: at the time of our agreement Joe was operating under a license to “Jim Sofos”. This license expired and currently Joe is operating under “Jim Dimitrios”. He is also doing business as Tampa Bay Deck Builders. If you dig a little deeper there was an affidavit filed requesting that Joe Buono AND Sofos Construction cease and desist from offering residential architectural services. In addition, the affidavit demands that Joe Buono agree to not offer these services in the future.
Consumer beware.

Comments: Joe and his team did an excellent job and results were better than I had hoped for. Excellent communication from the start of the project all the way through. Joe and his team proposed a plan and executed the work in a proficient, professional manor. Extremely reliable, all due dates were met as agreed upon and some were ahead of schedule.
