Work Description: New Wood Fence, replace deck and stairs, remodel back of house
Comments: This have turned into a complete nightmare for my wife and I. I hired S&S construction on 27Jan 2021 to do 3 jobs on my home1. Build a new fence
2. Replace balcony and stairs
3. remolded the back of my home and install new sliding door and install M Rock.
The agreement at the time was for me to supply all materials and the contractor to supply the labor. I paid up front half the labor cost.
The contractor at the time told me he had 3 days coming up the following week 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of February he could get the work done and I asked him at the time to supply me a list of materials he would need so I can get them delivered in time. When I receive the list, I order the materials to have them delivered on start date. During that time there was some bad weather and everything was delayed a week which was understandable and I set up a new delivery for the fallowing week 9th of February.
when the materials came in on the 9th I contacted the contractor and he told me do to the weather he fell behind and it wouldn't be until the following week 16th he could start. Again understandable at the time.
The contractor did show up on the 16th to start the work around 10am that day. The following day he showed up around 1 pm and around 3pm he came to me requesting more labor funds. Remember I had already paid him up front half the labor which was 3,050 dollars and he only worked maybe one and a half days and was already ask for more labor funds (First read flag) I want to add
The contract we signed said half now half when complete. Being the nice person I am I gave him more money. And that really started the nightmare. He would:
never show up when he said he will be here.
He would tell me he would be here at 9 am and wouldn't show up until 1 or 2 o'clock in the afternoon only to work on it for a few hours.
This went on for weeks on end. There was one time he didn't show up for 10 days. He finally got the fence finished, balcony, and stairs done and still needed to remodel the back of the house and install the sliding door and M rock that is now close to 2 weeks ago. This week he told he would be out here to finish the job and that was on Monday the 12th and its 15th and never came. I am DONE! this has be going on for almost 3 months now. I have taken him off the job and hiring someone else to finish and am demanding part of the labor funds back in order to get he's tools he has left here. AGAIN I AM DONE!
