Work Description: PaintingComments: I am very dissapointed with Rics' Residential Painting Services. They let me down.
My house needed refreshed paint before placing it on the market for sale.
Exactly the same scope of work was explained to all vendors to make sure the quotes could be compared fairly. The project timing was critical and Ric assured he would complete the work before the Open House. The other vendor could start the job only two days later. So, I ended up selecting Ric's company even though the estimate came quite a bit higher than the other vendor. As with all home moves, my family and I were extremely busy so it completely slipped out of my mind to verify the scope of work in Ric's invoice. Bad mistake. I did review the first proposal from the other vendor and assumed Ric was as professional documenting the scope of work as the other guys. What a costly mistake! Ric's version of the work to be done turned out to be MUCH LESS than had been requested. I was very frustrated to find out Ric left a lot of things unpainted even though leaving them out did not make any sense. And then he proudly referred me to the invoice as if though he'd had me. Example? Why would you even leave trim (baseboards and window sills) unpainted and looking ugly when all the walls have fresh paint? I do not know either. "Whole bathroom" means painting just the walls to him. The cabinets and ceiling were not included, according to
Ric, even though the ceiling had a visible stain on it. Those would be charged separately. His invoice is his Bible and common sense does not mean a thing to him.
The problem with Ric is that he does not listen. It took me several times to explain verbally then write what had to be done. And even then, he would still leave something out. He offered me to paint the kitchen trims for free as a courtesy but failed to keep his promise.
He did use every opportunity to remind me that Customer satisfaction was his top goal. Yeah, right. But the service is clearly sub-standard throughout.
On top of everything else, the work was not completed on time and I had to call Ric back to finish some parts.
Apparently, Ric sent a worker, whose wife had been in a hospital room, to work that day. I don't blame that guy for not being efficient and committed to providing quality service but the unfinished work did spoil my Open House because the home was not completely ready for it.
Even after I asked Ric to send a different person to finish the work, he kept insisting on bringing the same person. And he eventually did despite of my protest.
Ric has very poor customer focus. The only thing I kept hearing was about him getting paid for his work. Very, very unprofessional business conduct. Considering the price I paid, the service and the hassle are completely not worth it.
He did not even had the courage to meet me for the final walkthough blaming me on being 15 minutes late due to busy Monday morning traffic. He also did not keep his word to paint trims in the kitchen/breakfast area as "courtesy service".
Before you chose this company, be sure to verify the work invoiced against your own plan and be prepared to spend your time to make these two in agreement. Be prepared that your work might not be finished on time and likely would have to be re-done if Ric decides to send a worker with family issues to do your house.
No more Ric's Painting for me, my friends, my neighbors, my colleagues, my network and my communities (old and new). I hope he improves his quality and ability to listen before you decide to give him a chance.
