Work Description: Landscape Repair

Comments: The Bamboo was removed as much as Maximum could June 6-7th. It was hard work. The project was stressful for me. The price quoted was to be $800-1000. Meaning to us (me and my disabled partner) 1000 was the top. Thought it was reasonable and did not look for other bids. We were quoted it would cover everything such as Bamboo removal, root removal, bamboo special poison, pre-emergent, repair damages like sprinkler to a working system, etc. Some things decided as they went.

On start day, I got woken by text on June 6 at 6:30 a.m. that they were not coming at 8:00 a.m. instead at 11:00. I stayed in bed. Then Max text again, that he was sending one man at 8:30 or so? I questioned only one guy? Max said well it doesn't matter, it is 65.00 by the hour, by the man. I said well we hoped to stay closer to the 800.00. He said he would do best they could. It was very unclear. We thought ok, he is saying it is figured in, and will not top over 1000. There were different numbers of men in and out working the two days. We assumed it was still all on the rate quoted, not an open tab like a bar. Max even said we didn't need to be home at point. There was no way to know their hours. Max came and went. They had maintenance issues on their chainsaw, downtown time. They used our power tool. It was disorganized. They DID work hard. Max started rushing and saying they were going over their time and hard to estimate the job. Stressful for us.
Day two, they finished part I and asked me for payment. Max decided how many hours. I was charged on my Visa, over 1500 for the first part. The receipt that was emailed after, read that it covered all as completed. I was charged in advance. Very stressful. Many things still left to do, that he said he would be back do. Then we were worried. My man questioning me. I followed up on the receipt, and emailed Max what they still had to be do that I paid for that he had quoted. Never heard anything at that time. We waited the two weeks as Max said to wait, for new bamboo growth to appear so he could complete. I stressed and was going to call him. He DID call me on June 19th to follow up which was a BIG relief. Then, he said I had TO pay 65.00 for one hour for two people for the labor just to spray and simple stuff like fix the broken sprinkler line. I had no choice with a mess on my hands, my yards. They came running late. They rushed and I came out as they packed up and said they were done. I paid the 130.00 check. They finished up making a dripline (I am told is under the tarp), poison spray, a cover of the gardens. They forgot to spray the 4 large planters that they cut the Bamboo off. They were unable to remove the bamboo large roots/underground runners on one end, unless they were to come work more hours at 65.00 an hour per man. I still have a lot of work to do and hope the poison to going to work. I cannot be in the sun.
Thank you so much for your review. Through this process we communicated everything to you. We told you that the project was by the hour and that this was an estimate. We told you that bamboo is almost impossible to quote. We told you that we were unsure if we would be able to remove all of the stalks. We explained how to kill them, and then performed all steps at the price agreed upon, $65/man hour. I explained to you when we were going over. I explained to you that we could stop trying to remove the roots and try to kill them instead and come back later. I attempted so many times to get you to understand that. At one point I told you I was not going to axe out anymore because we were too far over, and that spraying with a high concentrate of glyphosate and covering it with a landscape fabric to block out the sun would kill off the bamboo. We borrowed your sawzall once we realized the bamboo had main roots going underneath your concrete, rather than shooter This was explained to you. The entire time we explained, reexplained, and reexplained again the process we were taking. We took all proper steps, and attempted to find the cheapest solution for you. Bamboo is a mess. Do not plant it in your yard.
