Joel accepted the job proposal for our company to repair two areas of dry rot, and to demo the tile floor, including the cement board under the tile in the kitchen. Then replace with particle board sub-floor, and finish with vinyl plank flooring. This bid was for both materials and labor. After agreeing and signing the contract, Joel broke the contract by taking it upon himself to purchase his own material. The product Joel chose was very cheap, poor quality, and not one that we would recommend. Joel was not very easy to work with, and difficult to communicate with. Jackstone Inc made the customer aware of the quality of the material, and as he was aware, Jackstone Inc made a decision at that point to move forward with the project, and complete the job. Upon demo of the kitchen tile floor, problems were found with the cement board. These problems would be cause for additional labor, and time. The customer was made aware of the issues, and the amount of the change order. ($1466.74) This was the sole reason for the job taking additional time. The dollar amount credited to Joel for the material he took upon himself to purchase was refunded in the form of a credit applied to the additional charges in the change order. The members of our team honest, vetted, and committed to completing quality work. While at the end of the project, our team did clean up, and removed the last box of flooring. As soon as we realized our mistake; the box of flooring was promptly returned to Joel. The dry rot areas in the original proposal were inspected and repaired. Fortunately the area in the bedroom was found to be a different issue other that dry rot. That was repaired, and the flooring was replaced. As the work for the second area of suspected dry rot was not as extensive, an additional credit was applied to the change order, and the remaining amount that Joel owed to Jackstone Inc was waived. We communicated all of the above information multiple times to Joel, through conversation, email, & invoices. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
