Work Description: New Roof

Comments: I Got 6 different estimates for my roof project. Although Kayco wasn't the cheapest they were the most professional and educated me the most on the process. The roof work was done without a hitch. I highly Recommend Kayco

Work Description: New Roof Install

Comments: Yes, Kayco installed a roof. Yes, they referred us to an amazing adjuster who helped us navigate homeowners insurance. Everything else about our experience was subpar to say the least. We cannot recommend Kayco Roofing, especially for insurance work.

During our roof install there were 4 damages done to the house: a piece of rotten wood was missed on the patio, water leaked onto the office ceiling, someone fell through the ceiling in our pantry, and the gutters on our house were detached and were not reattached. We were not notified of any of these damages prior to returning home and finding them ourselves. I notified Kayco promptly about the first 3 issues and they have been resolved, although my husband had to lose wages to be home for the drywall repair. While I understand that accidents happen, many of these damages would have been avoidable with careful work and verifying repairs before leaving a worksite.

When a hurricane hit, we noticed the gutters flopping around. We called out a gutter company to do the repair. Upon arrival, they found that the gutters were not attached to our house and some of the hardware was still sitting inside the gutters (which was detached during our roof install.) Clark was informed of these damages a few weeks ago and agreed via text message to reimburse us for the $150 gutter repair within a week. Funds have not yet been received 3 weeks later.

We were completing this project through homeowners insurance. The first check was submitted when we received it. There was a delay in us receiving our second check because the county took 3 weeks to inspect the roof. We were never told that final payment would be due within 60 days of install regardless of the status of our insurance check until we were threatened with a lien. We had to scramble to front the money to cover the remaining cost of our insurance work. Kayco was in direct contact with the adjuster (who they recommended) and were well aware of the pending status of our check.

On October 18th, I was blindsided with the threat of a lien over insurance work and obviously my initial reaction was not pleasant. Clark was also not kind in his responses. Stating things like, “We don’t run business like that. If I would have known you didn’t have money to pay your bill, I wouldn’t have replaced your roof.”

On October 19th, I called Clark back when I was calm hoping we could talk through all of this. I fully admitted that my initial reaction wasn’t kind, but he had no remorse for his. I tried to give him feedback as a consumer but he cut me off, got defensive, and made rude comments such as: “I’ve been in business 15 years, I don’t need your feedback.” “It doesn’t take 60 days to get an insurance check.” “To be honest, I don’t want to talk to you anymore because we aren’t getting anywhere.” He also kept sarcastically stating “enjoy the free roof.” He got me upset and I ended up hanging up on him because he wouldn’t let me get a word in and I didn’t want to over-speak or react emotionally.

A little while later, my husband text Clark and let him know that we managed to pull together the money to front the final payment, but we would be leaving honest reviews based on our experience. Clark then mouthed off to my husband via text message, continuing to gaslight us.

In conclusion, the quality of the roof seems to be satisfactory. The salesman was nice. The reference to the adjuster was great.

Everything else about the transaction was subpar: the avoidable damages, scheduling repairs of those errors, loss of wages to be home for repairs, snarky comments from the owners, and manipulative business practices by demanding that we front money for a job paid for by insurance.

As of November 9th, we have yet to receive our $150 reimbursement check. I waited 3 weeks, giving Kayco the benefit of the doubt prior to writing this review and filing a complaint with the BBB.

Work Description: New construction roof

Comments: building a home and Kayco installed the roof.
Looked good at first till first light when we were shocked from the wrinkles all over. Kayco was immediately notified within two days after install, since install was a Saturday. He proceeded to argue it wasn't his fault. I told him his supervisor was well aware of our concerns and chose to proceed. He did not care! I asked about warranty. Still no resolution. We entered rainy season and various other problems arose. Much too lengthy to get into here. We hired a professional inspector to which we found many more issues. The Kayco company also refused to pay their supplier and they placed a lien on our property, which they had every right, so we paid that. It was a lot of stress to endure from, in my opinion, a company that had no regard to owning up to its responsibilities. We will have no choice but to have the court systems resolve the matter. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone!! Beware!!!!!

Work Description: Fix leak on roof

Comments: I called the owner and asked if they could come back on Monday so I didn't have to listen to hammering outside by bedroom window on my day off (Saturday). They told me no, because they were 1 and 1/2 months behind. Yeah, great company.
