Work Description: Installed Bamboo flooring
Comments: I recently bought a house that had a very nice looking bamboo floor installed in the living room and kitchen areas. The previous owner had this installation done and I have just found out today, 11-6-2018, that JM Floors of Lawrenceville did the installation. I asked my realtor on 10-17-2018 to find out who did the installation because the floor was buckling up in one area going into a hallway that leads to two bedrooms and a bathroom.The flooring is the Morning Star XD brand and sold by Lumber Liquidators. When I found the leftover material and brand name, I began to research the product and found all kinds of horrible reviews about the product and the vendor including information about a class action suit for the problems others were having. All the problems related to this product are blamed on faulty installation. I had a hard time believing there could be that many shoddy installations so I became fearful I was looking at having to replace this floor.
Saturday morning I began the chore of trying to figure out what the problem was causing my floor to buckle in this manner. The two main causes were said to be either moisture related or installation. I knew I did not have a moisture problem other than a possible change in humidity since it began to get cooler in September when the problem appeared. Does not make sense but anyway. When I removed some molding to see if a proper gap for expansion had been left as the install instructions say are required I found two spots going into a cased opening that did not appear to have any space. I took a rotary tool and corrected that issue and half the buckling area flattened out. Then I moved into the area where there are three transitions going through two bedroom doors to carpet and the bathroom door going into the tiled area. When I removed the transitions, all three of them had been glued down with what looked like liquid nail. They were glued to the sub-flooring and the bamboo flooring. There was no way the bamboo could move when it expanded so of course it buckled up in my living room. When I removed the glue from the areas, the flooring flattened out completely. I went to Home Depot, bought a piece of metal track for the transitions to go in, installed them, and then replaced all the molding.
Now I am no expert at installing floors, I am a software engineer, but after a few hours of google and reading and watching installation videos, I was able to correct this poor installation done by these "professionals".
I will certainly not recommend this company to anyone and further I will tell everyone I can about this problem.

Comments: Josip had me go to Lumber Liquidators with him to pick out my flooring. At the time of my in-home estimate, I explained to Josip about the high traffic my home gets. He advised me to take a trip to the lumber liquidators to pick out the flooring he suggested for me to purchase. He has high knowledge of woods. What types are soft, what are hard. He made it really easy for me to pick out what i wanted. His prices are great, "lowest i've heard" and him and his team are very well mannered. After a week, my floor is beautiful. He will be returning back to my home when i am ready to do the upstairs.

Josif went out of his way to ensure I was kept well informed of the process and even helped me to return boxes of flooring that had been damaged durning delivery and worked with the company to get replacement boxes for me. His flooring crew was very professional, repectful and cleaned up throughly in a timely mannor. They followed up and even adjusted a piece that had a defect with out any difficulties, I could not have asked for a better company.
