Work Description: Concrete Work

Comments: If I could give them 0 stars I would. These guys were referred to me through a friend. The "contractor" who was really the owner's son came by our house to give us an estimate back in Sept. We told him we needed an RV pad to accommodate a 30 ft RV. He did the calculations and gave us the quote of $1600. So, we hired them. The day they came to do the work I happened to be home sick. I woke up to multiple missed calls and texts from the "foreman" Issac to make sure what they were doing was right. I went outside and they had put down a patch of concrete about 8x20, the same length as our driveway already. I told them that wasn't right and showed him the texts where I told him the sq ft needed to be large enough to fit the 30 ft RV and that they needed to go to the property line. Issac said he misunderstood and had to take anxiety medication to get through that day. We discussed them coming back to fix the issue, as there were so many other factors to come into play since we had to schedule a truck to bring the RV from storage to my house and things like that. When they recalculated the sq ft the total wound up being almost $500 more than originally quoted. So, we had to pay that to finish the job. I asked multiple times if a permit was needed and they kept telling me no. Then they went as far to say that the city inspector had come by the house and told them a permit wasn't needed. After getting a notice from the city I called Isaac and told him and he told me that his worker had just made up that the inspector came by. So, when I confronted Isaac he was super confrontational and rather than letting me vent and owning it he was saying he trusted the guy like I trusted them to do the job...NOT what you tell someone when you are trying to make things right. Fast forward a couple of weeks, he tells me that he is going to talk to the city about the permit and get it taken care of, mind you I've had to talk to the city inspector and code enforcement guy multiple times at this point because every time Isaac said he talked to them, the city told me he hadn't. Finally, end of October Isaac tells me the permit was pulled and that we had 3 months to fix the driveway, because we needed to widen the approach to get up to the city's standards. Beginning of November I start calling and texting Isaac asking what the status is and got zero response. After over a month I called him from my work line, since he was clearly avoiding me and he answered on the first ring. He had an attitude saying he didn’t work for his dad’s company anymore and I needed to call his dad and he was busy at work so he tried rushing me off the phone. So I called and left a voicemail for his dad (the owner) and even sent him an email asking what was going on and called one more time, today actually. No answers. In the meantime, I got back in touch with the city only to find out the permit was NEVER pulled. Since October I'd been told we had a permit and was straight up lied to. I called the person who referred them to me and he got in touch with Isaac who told him that his dad would have had to register with the city of Irving to get a permit, then pull the permit and didn't want to do either. And that his company was -$200 and was probably going to file for bankruptcy. The entire time they were "working" with us they knew the company was going under and never said anything, lied to me and the city several times and gave us the go around more times than I care to count. I am now going to be forced to pull and pay for the permit myself and fix the driveway which will cost an additional $1200-$1500 dollars. When I could have just left the RV in storage. A job that was quoted at $1600 and paid for is now turning into an over $3500 job. ALL of this could have been avoided if they did their due diligence and checked with the city FIRST before doing anything, they would have known a permit was needed and if they didn't want to get registered or get it, they could have said something. Instead they do the job, wrong and half assed, but sure did cash my checks same day. I STILL have to go get a permit, get new measurements AND pay to have more work done. Meanwhile, neither Jeff nor his son Isaac have returned any of my texts, calls or emails.
