Comments: BEWARE! PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

The following review can be backed up with pictures, video recordings, emails, texts and communications showing these testimonials are true and accurate along with witnesses.
The following review is my own personal experience and my right to share my review to the public in efforts to help protect other consumers from being victimized as my family has in this dealing with Henderson & Sons Construction Group.

In July 2018, we contracted Henderson & Sons Construction Group located at 2372 Morse Ave #221 in Irvine, CA to renovate our Kitchen and Dining Room and flooring throughout our entire downstairs area of our home.

After interviewing multiple construction companies, it was the Henderson & Son’s we chose to hire for the job.
We were assigned Jessi Baksis as a project manager and this is where the nightmare began.

Jessi was never at our house to manage any of the teams he sub contracted nor their work and the quality of it, he would be there for only 10 to 15 minutes and leave it up to my wife to do the rest of the management.

The subcontractors that they hired to do the demo was filthy, completely disregarded our house, backyard and neighborhood and did not care about leaving a mess or dangerous trash and rubble all in my backyard and alongside my house where my children are around and had no regard over the mess they left on the streets as they tracked their dirt trails back and forth from their vehicles to my backyard.

The company they chose for our flooring was beyond subpar and after learning from Danny Cohen the owner of how they get paid, now I understand why it was in their best interest to hire the cheapest work available.

Do you want to know how the sales representative aka project managers get paid for signing you up? They get paid the difference from what we pay them to what they spend, ultimately they keep the difference and then split it internally for the company and sales, so this in itself leave a trace of bias decision making and if you’re not experience in contractor work or managing a renovation project, you’re liable to be overcharged for underpaid services with the hope that they can save as much money as possible by hiring low quality workers and keep as much of the high fees they charge you.

They started demo on September 17th and today is July 25th and the job are still not done. Like so many things their promises were just filled with false hopes and constantly trying to hush our concerns with telling us “we’ve done plenty projects before, this is all normal”. As of today, the floor is being redone because the first crew that did the flooring did the tile work incorrectly, completely messed up the grout and now our kitchen is still incomplete and our house has been in shambles since we started this project as the work area takes up half of our downstairs.

To say this has been a frustrating experience doesn’t even describe the anger, anxiety, stress, drama, abuse and torment this company has put my wife and I thru. Jessi and Danny both have yelled and argued with my wife and I and constantly talking down to us like we are in the wrong for voicing our concerns and expecting good service for the hefty price they charged us to do the poor quality work they’ve delivered thus far.

The electrician they hired, left uncapped live wires in our roof…mind you this is where I house my wife and children, so in other words, they saw it fit to save money in effort to make more money in the end even if it meant leaving a family in a hazardous environment. When we had the City Inspector come thru this is one of the few times we saw Jessi ever make an appearance and the entire time he argued with my wife, my wife pleaded with the inspector to ask them about the electrical wiring they did in our house and the gas lines they hooked up.

Before the Inspector completed his inspection, the inspector argued with Jessi and left, apparently upset that he was called to do the inspection way before the work was even close to being done. Come to find out that wires were never capped, and it was hazard and the gas line was never hooked up properly and was leaking gas. Again, this is a clear sign of the integrity this company has when it comes to their services and I am baffled that there are not more complaints about them. One of the main reasons we chose this company was because of their positive reviews and my wife and are feel duped as we’re now paying the cost at the end. The only time we ever heard from the company was when payments were due, but when we had questions and concerns it took forever to get a hold of someone. Now that we are almost 3 months into this project, I am not only disappointed with the lack of management but also feel suckered by the management as well. They constantly tried to point out verbiage when it came to payments due but when we pointed out the work was not yet done, they tried to rebuttal us by saying yea but its “90% done” which in my book, means it’s not done.

We got threatening calls and texts from their staff and were made to feel that we did wrong when all we wanted was the right company to help us with our project in the home that we’re raising our family in. My house has not been my house for over 3 months, it’s been tense, frustration filled and at times drenched with fear as we were not confident in the quality of work being done. We were constantly left in the dark and had no guidance or assistance whatsoever. As of today, of the $50,000 they charged us for the kitchen, they’ve collected $33,500 and my kitchen is still nonfunctional.

As it stands my flooring has no grout, my cabinets are not up and I have no ventilation for my stove, so we cannot cook in my kitchen either. And Danny Cohen and his staff are demanding we give him final payment with little to no promise of this job ever being completed or any Schedule of Completion even when requested multiple times.

Danny and Jessi have tried to tell us lies in attempts to shut us up and we’ve caught them multiple times being deceitful and leaving them speechless because they clearly did not expect that my wife and I were intelligent enough to not be taken advantage of.

Now, I’ve been doing my best to be patient and put trust in them that by holding the final payment, they’ll complete the job as they promised as I was told by Jessi at time of signing the contract that the final payment is released at time of final inspection, this was the agreement the entire time.

2 weeks ago Danny Cohen pleaded to get a large payment leaving the balance due only $6,500 and today he is asking for the final payment because he is “over budget” on this job, trying to guilt my wife and I about having to redo work and return appliances, when this in all reality was his company’s fault for not doing the job right to begin with.

I am amazed that this company is in business and am even more astonished that there are not more complaints online to show what this company is about.

3 of our contractors that worked on our project also complained about Jessi and said they just came from one of his projects to clean up after the mess he left. My wife and I thought that by bringing Danny Cohen into the picture we would find some peace of mind, but Danny clearly has shown that he himself could care less about our well-being and our satisfaction.

His last text to me verbatim is “my attorney is placing a lien on your home tomorrow morning, do not call me again” and now my entire family is sitting in a home filthy from construction, dismantled and reconfigured as my belongings are stored in the garage and spread throughout my other rooms, my wife is crying again for the 15th time, I seriously lost count over how many times Jessi and Danny has left her in a complete ball of stress, anxiety and tears and we hope and pray that you do not go through this experience.

In fear of having a lien placed on our home we came to an agreement to pay them more money, mind you before any of the work was rendered or completed they accepted and agreed to not place a lien on our home and complete the work.

Upon completion when we thought the job was done, we discovered that their unlicensed electrician did not properly wire our hood and the power was too strong thus causing a blow out with our appliance and put my home at risk of catching on fire.

Their negligence put my family at risk with no regard and when we asked them to right the situation they blamed the manufacturer rather than own up and admit that the voltage power of the electrical wiring done by their unlicensed electrician was incorrect and instead of resolve put us on wait for a manufacturing part that did not resolve the issue.

Now we have a hood that does not work and a huge whole in our ceiling and wiring that is too strong wired through out the walls of our house that separates our kitchen to our 10-year-old son’s room.

After all this they demanded that we pay them the remaining balance and when we asked them to complete the work first as it still was not done, they declined and placed a lien for an improper amount on our home after all.

Now we have an erroneous claim on our title. WHAT A NIGHTMARE.

My experience with this company?

My wife has been verbally abused, my wife and I have had plenty of sleepless nights, I’ve had to come home and miss work because of the fear that their services had caused my wife and has set us back mentally and financially and to hear that they are now placing a lien on my home and that their attorney is going to contact us, is disturbing.

NOT ONCE have we been told anything you would expect to hear from a company when you voice your concerns or opinions and it is to serve the customer and ease their worry and show them that they care about who they take money from and their reputation.

We were treated like fools, talked to like subordinates and neglected throughout this whole process and to be left with the job undone, threats of liens and lawyers and still no peace of mind or end in sight, I only hope this review helps you avoid the same torment we underwent.

Please learn from my review before you deal with this company as I wish that I could have seen the honest truth about what I was getting myself into before I decided to hire Henderson & Son’s Construction Group to destroy my house, leave it unfinished, threaten me with their lawyers and are now placing a lien on my home for what they believe is a job completed. If you have any questions about my experience you are welcome to contact me as I hope to help you make the right decision before hiring this company to care for your home where you raise your family.
