Description: We started Tokori because we saw a need for our services. Specifically, we wanted to take our years of real estate, home remodeling, and property maintenance services to a broad spectrum of clients--tailoring our deliverables to help them meet the challenges they face buying their first home, becoming a new landlord, or preparing for a life transition such as downsizing or aging in place. We started out as a consulting company in 2008, but increasingly became more "hands on" ever since. Now I manage a crew of tradesmen that maintain, repair, and renovate all manner of residential properties--from mansions to mobile homes (a.k.a. wheel estate). Still, I remain very interested in the home inspection side of the business.

I have three univerity degrees, still claim to be a transplanted Arkansan, and I retired from the world's finest Navy a few years ago (a mustang who served half my career as an enlisted sailor before earning my commission). I'm proudly married, have grown children, and love pugs and grandchildren! I'm proud to say we are actively involved in our community, and I have a well known soft spot for children and elders. I joined the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (INACHI) a couple of years ago and have licensure or certification in multiple states, as well as more insurance coverage than the vast majority of the other folks you may be considering for your business. If you have property w/in 150 miles of Annapolis, Maryland, we can perform any number of repair or remodeling tasks. I can also inspect a prospective purchase or a property before its put up for sale, and I gaurantee that you'll be satisfied that you got your money's worth. I teach home inspection courses for licensure in Maryland on behalf of Anne Arundel Community College, and I invite you to read our blog postings--some of which were inspired by questions asked by my students. We take continuing education and developments in our field seriously and we support the state's efforts to professionalize the trades.

We also perform a variety of property maintenance, preparation, and preservation services. I am somewhat of a perfectionist, but, owning and operating several residential rental properties myself, I intimately understand the financial constraints that property managers and landlords have to contend with daily. I frequently try to post articles that contain information that no one else will tell you; from the front lines of tenant evictions, vacant property vandalism, and scores of other potential tenancy-related pitfalls to the financial risks associated with deferred maintenance. We are engaged with one or more property management firms under maintenance agreements continuously, but we're never too busy to help out a newbie landlord or an established management team.

In closing, we want to be the "go to guys" when you are trying to buy a home, deal with a life transition related to your or a loved one's home, or when your rental or "investment" property turns out to be a little more than you, your "contractor-plumber-electrican" friend, or Home Depot can handle. Although we primarily focus on a service area near Annapolis, Maryland, I invite you to call with your concerns or questions whether you live next door or elsewhere in the lovely DELMARVA region.
