Work Description: Basement Remodeling
Comments: We hired Rich on November 2020 for a basement remodeling. He said it would take 4-5 weeks. Initially he was very helpful with our issues and said that he was finishing up a job so he started two months after which was not a big deal. After that it was a complete disaster.This company always had personnel issues and they would rarely start on time. The work ethic is absolutely terrible and the communication is awful. Rich is not even concerned with getting back to us and we have to keep on messaging him for us to get any update on the project. It took him a whole year to finish framing, plumbing, and electricity. In his defense he did get hurt for about 3 months and he was having personal issues. But that is still 9 months for a project that should have been done in 4-5 weeks. Also, they were atrium builders before and now they changed their name after all the bad reviews they got from there.
I sent him a message two weeks ago that we have moved on from him and he can keep the money we already gave him to pick up his materials but he has not responded and all his stuff is still in his basement. The ethics with Rich and this company is absolutely awful do not hire this.

And I really didn’t have all the money to pay them but they made arrangements with me so I can pay you dumb $500 a month for six months. They are that honestly People very passionate.P.S. I feel very sorry for that Matt guy He must be on drugs or something Because Elizabeth crew are great and I can Count on them or anything.

Comments: My experience with Atrium Builders turned out to be negative. I hired them for two projects and was in negotiations for a 3rd project, which I already paid 2/3 of the money for (which has not been refunded as of this date, 12/11/18) without a contract because I made the mistake of trusting them. I first hired them to do my basement. I was initially impressed with their work (I will give them credit for the framing work in my basement only) and what I thought to be honest conduct.This impression declined over the 4 and a half months they were in my employ. They rarely started on time, with some exceptions. They had problems with personnel. They did not complete the 2nd project, railing on my front stoop, and the rail they did install was weak and part of the second they installed I had to remove because it caused a safety hazard. The worst part of the experience, though, is the poor quality workmanship on the electrical work for my basement. The lights were not connected properly and I was without lights in the majority of my basement except the laundry room for about six weeks. The outlets they installed did not work. I had to hire a New York State certified electrician to complete the work, as a significant and safety hazard was present, per the orders of the Town of East Fishkill based upon the findings of the town underwriter, who found several violations of the local electrical codes. Contrary to what I was told by Atrium Builders, building permits are required by the Town of East Fishkill as the town goes by the stricter building codes than Dutchess County.
I also had to hire a plumber for the sloppy work they did repairing my pipes in the laundry room. I was without water in my bathroom sink for 3 months because they were unable to fix the leak.
I terminated Atrium Builders employment on Jaunary 13th, 2018. I took them to court in the Town of Kent and won a claim against them in May, 2018. To this day, as of March 24, 2019, despite the best efforts of the Carmel, NY sheriff's department, the debt remains unpaid. I have pictures posted on Atrium Builders Houzz site, with pictures. I have been hesitant to share this review, as Atrium Builders CEO has threatened me twice with slander charges. But I cannot, in good conscience, be silent. If you choose to do business with Atrium Builders, you do so at your own risk.

The 3 reviews I have put links to above, 2 of them, Houzz and Facebook, have pictures of the poor quality and hazardous work performed by Atrium Builders. Notice, also, the inconsistencies in the amount of time they have been in business and their half-baked attempts at changing their name, such as what they have changed it to now: 2x4Construction.

Comments: Contracted Atrium Builders for full rehab on my house after a pipe burst and destroyed first floor. Rich and Liz were very receptive to meeting timeframe needs in completing work so that I could move back into upstairs with my children. Work included replacement of baths, full kitchen ,floors ,walls to the studs resheetrocked and painted. Honest, precise, reliable crew fair and took initiative to work through insurance claim process . This is a team worth hiring for all home improvements - highly recommend and would be happy to refer to any homeowner.-
