Work Description: Concrete patio and shed slabs

Comments: Do Not Hire Jake!! Make sure you have every detail in writing before you start or your project will be a great disappointment! This is what happened after Jake told me to leave the back yard as Jake said he didn’t need any more instructions. We talked to Jake about putting in two concrete slabs for the sheds we wanted in our back yard and a slab for a patio. We wanted the slabs and patio to be 4 inches thick and all the same height in the yard. We had picked up the rocks in our yard and screened them so we could use them for around the sides and front of our house. We put the screened rocks in two piles on some poly so we could use them later. Jake came to our house and reassured us that he knew what he was doing and that we would be happy with the work. He claimed he knew what we wanted but never gave us an invoice or a contract. His crew put in formers. They used our rock, didn’t use sand or anything as a base. The next day they showed up along with a cement truck with GO Concrete on the door of the truck but insisted they were CO Concrete (both companies deny ever being at my house). They pumped cement into the formers. One shed slab is 9 inches high, the patio slab 6 inches high, and the other shed slab is 4 inches high! We also asked them to put in a slab on the side of our garage with a space to build a blind for our garbage cans and to make the slab at ground level so it would be easy to move the garbage cans on and off. We had all the wood for the blind that would hide garbage cans from public view. They poured a slab that is 3 inches high and didn’t leave a place to put posts in to hold the blind or put the concrete at ground level! Then they cleaned their equipment in our front yard leaving concrete debris in our lawn (concrete kills grass). They left a pair of torn boots in our yard and chunks of concrete, nails, etc . The formers were gone and the concrete for the shed slabs looked like they didn’t go all the way to the ground. The bolts we gave them were not put in the cement in the right place (too close to the edge) making them useless. We told Jake we wanted to put in a 36 inch door, he put the bolts 34 inches apart! Jake busted up my pier from my old deck which was much larger than where the new patio was to be placed so they are no longer usable. There is more . . . After they left we looked at their work and took pictures. We were very upset!! Jake wouldn’t talk to us! Do NOT hire Jake!!! .
