Work Description: New Concrete Driveway

My wife and I needed a new drive way. After several bids from different contractors, some with license, we went with Andy of 805CONCRETE WORX. On a scale of 1-10, we rate him a 12. Let me explain. My wife and I made several changes before the concrete was poured and Andy made all changes with a smile. The drive way came out great. I was impressed with Andy's professionalism and eagerness to do what is takes to get the job done. My wife and I are very pleased and impressed with his work. We would recommend 805CONCRETE WORX highly.

Work Description: 1.) Demo existing asphalt driveway . Haul out and dispose of material at recycle plant .
2.) Form around perimeter of driveway for new concrete driveway.
3.) Grade existing subgrade for 4” slab
4.) Compact subgrade with 1 ton roller.
5.) Install #4 ( 1/2'” ) rebar . 24” on center.
6.) Place and Finish 2500 psi concrete ( Color to be selected by homeowner as well as 3 release colors .) Roman Slate texture of stamp concrete with 8” to 10” smooth border

Comments: I am a craftsman and a perfectionist. Whether it's one of my hobbies or a computer program I write for work, "good enough" is never good enough for me. And when I hire a professional to do what I don't have the strength or skill to do myself, I look for someone with the same high standards as myself. So, when I finally managed to save enough money to get rid of my disintegrating asphalt driveway, I found just such a craftsman in Andy Castanada and 805 Concrete Worx. Andy listened to all my concerns (particularly that the planters I had painstakingly built myself be undamaged) and all my hopes for what would be (after my house and my car) the most expensive thing I've ever bought. Because "me no speakee concrete", Andy took the time to explain exactly what he was going to do and why, and helped me design the look and select the colors. He shared my desire for a driveway that would be as beautiful as it was functional. I took the week off just so I could watch the process ("This Old House" in my own front yard!) In just one day Andy and his helper, Javier, had ripped out that eyesore of an asphalt driveway and by the next had prepped it for concrete: smoothing it with his tractor, compacting it with a one-ton roller and plate compactor, putting up forms, and tying down rebar.
Andy insists on getting the first batch of the day from his concrete supplier because that gives him the most time to work when the cool early morning conditions are optimal, so he and his subcontractor crew were there bright and early for the pour. It was a wonder and a revelation to watch his crew at work--they are just as much perfectionists as Andy and myself! They were fast and efficient with a keen eye to detail. "Good enough" was where they began their work; they finished at a level I can only describe as artistry! What really impressed me was the teamwork and enthusiasm they demonstrated. Pouring and finishing concrete is hard, heavy work, but Andy's crew attacked it untiringly and with pride. They were highly skilled and committed to creating a thing of beauty, and took joy in that creation--it was evident in the happy camaraderie between them and way they communicated with each other. Andy did the stamping and coloring himself, taking great pains to replicate the color scheme of my planters.
I've hired Andy to come back to pressure-wash and seal it, and to resurface my front stoop (which looks downright shabby next to that beautiful driveway). I only wish I had more for him to do, for he is a joy to work with. I recommend him unreservedly to anyone who wants any concrete work done.
Some contractors may have seen this as just another little suburban driveway, unworthy of any extra effort, but not Andy--he puts all his skill (plus that of the two generations of concrete men behind him) into it, and he works with subcontractors who share his drive for perfection. I am thrilled and overjoyed with my driveway: its artistry and beauty will enhance the "curb appeal" and value of my home for decades to come, but nothing can equal the soul-deep pleasure I get every time I walk across it and see the artistry that went into its creation.

Work Description: Andy and his crew did a fabulous job on my 160 sq. ft. patio. The prep work is critical to the longevity of the patio stability and he went the extra mile doing what needs to be done.

Comments: Andy is more than a contrete contractor he is artistic when it comes to the color, stamping and additional colors to be broadcast into the colored cement to make it top notch. I couldn't be happier and would highly recommend him.

Work Description: concrete retaining wall

Comments: Andy Castaneda is a rarity among building contractors. He actually does exactly what he says he'll do. He calls when he says he will. He works on-site with his crew every day until the project is done and he and his crew work diligently the whole time. His pricing is very reasonable and competitive.
But above all, the quality of his work is outstanding!
I highly recommend Castaneda Concrete Worx. This was by far the best experience I've had with a contractor since I moved to Santa Barbara 17 years ago.

Comments: Andy was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. He kept me informed about every step in the construction process. He followed through with every arrangement in a timely and professional manner. High quality work at a reasonable price. He takes great pride in his work and left the job site in immaculate condition.
Andy doesn't just bid a job then occasionally stop by to check on progress. He was on site working with his crew through the entire job.
The best experience I have ever had with a contractor.
I highly recommend Andy Castaneda.

Work Description: We needed to create an ADA compliant sloped surface from the inside of the threshold going up into the bar, as the floor is higher than the sidewalk.

Comments: Andrew was careful to keep the slope under the required percentage to ensure we were compliant. We were pleased with the results & we will be hiring him again in the near future to do some finish work around the new sloped surface.
On a side note, I think providing a method of posting pictures of the contractors' finished work would be helpful. A picture is worth a thousand words.
