Work Description: prep and pour garage floor and apron
Comments: Do not use this company under any circumstance. I would rate zero stars if I could. The quote was higher than others, but we read the good reviews and proceeded with paying the deposit for a 24'x24' garage floor and 10'x24' apron on the front of the garage, with some grade work for $7000. It went downhill from there. It started with poor communication from Shawn Perkins, we never knew when or who would show up at our house for the project. I came home the first day to 3 men at my house, the forms placed incorrectly and they had climbed into my rafters to get my 2x4s and 2x6s, without asking, to build the forms because they didn't come prepared. I tried to ask them to verify Shawn had told them a smooth finish on the inside floor and brushed finish on the apron, but none spoke english. Husband called Shawn about the forms and finish and the men returned later to fix the forms according to the spray paint lines we painted for them. In fixing the forms, they dumped all of the extra dirt off to the side of the forms which is right in my front yard and front and center when pulling up to my house. Again, zero communication on when rock was arriving until we reached out the next week to ask. Shawn said to leave a check for the remaining amount to be picked up when concrete was poured, so we did and the check has cleared. Concrete was delivered, apparently by SRM Concrete, and I came home to a truck parked in the middle of my front yard, a guy apologizing for using my hose, and quality issues including holes, dimples, and mainly texture differences that did not look good or presentable and it had splashed onto the metal on the front of the garage. Come to find out later that night my hose bib had been broken by the man and I couldn't turn off the water so we had to shut off water to the whole house and spent Sunday afternoon fixing the hose bib. We reached out again about the quality issues and someone came to "fix" it, except it is 10x worse now and looks like a patch job versus a brand new pad which is what we paid for, the color isn't even remotely close, the texture is inconsistent, it wasn't blended in to be seamless with the concrete underneath and they dripped some concrete on the other section so it now looks bad too. We were told it needs 28 days to fade and blend in. We reached out again to ask when they were coming to clean up (included on invoice) the pile of dirt in my front yard, pile of boards, trash they left that I had been chasing down for 2 weeks as the wind blew it around, and the boards they had screwed into the back corner of my garage and Shawn didn't even know what we were talking about when we asked. We reached out again at 21 days post "repair" because nothing has changed to blend in and it needs to be ripped out and repoured. We've spent the last couple of days trying to get a date from Shawn and Amanda Bush (who is actually the name on the business). Shawn has been nothing but rude and unprofessional to the point of texting at 10:50 PM at night saying he would reach out "tomorrow". We came home today to a letter from the concrete supplier, SRM Concrete, saying payment has not been made by Beyond the Surface and that lack of payment will end up in a lein on the property in 7 days. Shawn still hadnt reached out so husband called Amanda and she had excuses but sure enough payment had not been made to SRM. Shawn texted a rude reply saying he "said he would reach out today and it is still today" then called to argue that it wasn't a rude message, he also had the same excuses for SRM not being paid and ended with he would let use know when someone would be out. Following that phone call, husband got a text from Shawn that was obviously meant for someone else saying "I talked to his punk ***." So we called Amanda again and have requested a refund and for payment to SRM to be made asap and proof sent to us. We were nice about the issues at the beginning and haven't even included everything, but this is ridiculous. They have now ripped out the poorest section and repoured, just for use to watch the security video show they didn't lay wire mesh, which was included in the invoice, and to find some of the ripped out concrete in my front yard which doesn't have wire mesh on it either, so now the whole pad needs to be completely replaced and I've contacted an attorney.Louisville KY

Comments: Raatz destroyed my porch installing handrails and refused to fix the broke and fallen away steps. Beyond the Surface had to break out and replace the steps and the top of the porch. All the work was done in a timely manner. The crew was friendly and hard working! I would gladly recommend Beyond the Surface to anyone.
