Work Description: driveway with concrete and bricks
Comments: Hired Tone Fatai on March 14, 2016 to replace my driveway with concrete and brick border. He gave me a sloppily written contract that said AAA builders and showed me work at another house that he had done. He was intent to start immediately. I am recently widowed and made a horrible decision to trust him. His crew came over and quickly took out the driveway and installed a new one. I came home after a long day of work with all of these men in my driveway only one of them working....quickly slapping concrete around the bricks. Tone had pulled out a chair from underneath a bunch of stuff in my garage to sit on..made me feel very uncomfortable. I made a comment about some of the concrete that looked bad and he said, not to worry he would come back the next day to power wash it and it would clean the concrete up. i was quickly shuttled into my house for a final payment. When he said that he had a power washer I asked if he would power wash my back yard stamped concrete. I payed him $150. When I came home all of my furniture was on the grass. I asked him to come and move it and he didn't. He also broke one of my lawn chairs. I asked him to look at it and he didn't. I had to move almost all of the furniture back...heavy stuff by myself. I initially payed Tone $2000 to purchase materials. I did not get a receipt for materials. I then payed him $2,200. I a payed by check. I felt nervous because of all of these men at my house. The next day I looked at the driveway closely. I have been crying ever since. I have texted Tone, and talked to him on the phone. He said that he did the best that he could. I told him it wasn't good enough. There is a thick layer on concrete all around the outside of the bricks and the driveway is uneven There is concrete all over my lawn. They put dirt on top of my landscape and extra sand that they had left over. He pulled up all of the plants in front of my porch (a large area) and told me that he helped me out by "weeding". There are also huge clumps of concrete all over my front yard. I can't even mow the yard. This is not even near the driveway. He covered it with his extra dirt and sand. There are piles of dirt on my side yard. Some of it right in front of where my dryer vent comes out. The concrete between the bricks is embarrassing horrible. There are spaces between some of the brick. I had a contractor friend come by and look at it. I gave Tone several opportunities to fix it. He told me it was fine. When I finally threatened with legal action, he agreed to meet with me. I had my contractor friend with me because I was scared. Tone did not show up. I honestly don't think he has the ability to make it right. I went back over to the house he originally showed me and talked to the home owner. I got the contractor license number he gave him which is #970781. His business partners name is Tom Tuakalan. Tone's phone # is 1-650-834-3126 and Tom's is 408-829-5593. Tone appealed to my softer side by telling me he was religeous and his partner was a minister at a Mormon church. I stupidly trusted him right away. I should have known when he was so anxious to get started immediately before I could even think about it. I originally was looking at driveways on the internet and put my name, phone number and address on it. He called me minutes after I did this. The paper that I got from the other homeowner says that the license is current and active. It also says that it is pending disciplinary action. I want to get the driveway replaced but I no longer feel safe to be around Tone at all...not that he would do it anyway. He has made it clear that he intends to do nothing about the terrible work. I feel like he took advantage of me as a single woman. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. I would love to take legal action but I do not know how to. I will be looking into it however and go to websites to give reviews. Please help me if you can.-
