Work Description: My project was a New Fence for my back yard to stop water from entering from my neighbor's yards and flooding my house. I had to place sand bags at my back door to stop the 23 inches of rain water during Hurricane Harvey. Mr. Garner said he could replace my fence and stop the water from coming into my yard. He was very persistent in getting the job with frequent phone calls and hounded me several times about getting the job started until I finally agreed and told him to proceed. He made several promises of extra work he would do if I would let him do the job. He is like a used car salesman to put it politely.
Comments: One promise that was originally the reason for replacing the fence he never completed, which included placing steel flashing on the bottom of the fence boards to redirect the rain water. He also said he would complete the work in 2 days and it took over five days to get the fence up and closed in. When they first started the fence the wood was untreated. When I called it to their attention they tried to convince me that it was treated. I told them they are fence people and even I could tell it wasn't treated. Mr. Garner then tried to blame it on his workers having loaded the "wrong" wood on the trailer, but wouldn't you as the contractor look at the wood before you drove it over 30 miles to install it? He then told his workers that it wasn't their fault as if I wasn't standing there and didn't hear him. His crew did work hard to get the fence up and I appreciated that. However, he came back the 5th day and told me that he underbid the job and he wasn't making any money on this job and couldn't finish what he was doing. He said he calculated for so many feet of fencing and was already over budget, but I was the one that held the tape for him when he came to give me a bid and he didn't miss any length in my yard. I told him that we had agreed on the bid and he needed to finish the job. At the end of the day on the 5th day he didn't bring the flashing with him to redirect the water like he had promised to do and said he would be back on Saturday to finish the job. I told him the only reason I hired him and allowed the work to be done was to redirect the water and at the present time the way the fence is, the rain water can flow more freely into my yard from the neighbors yards than with the old fence. He promised to be back on Saturday that he had to cut the flashing to fit under the fencing. I paid him but told him that I would not pay the whole amount until he finished the job. Saturday came and went and he did not show. When I called him he said he could have sworn he said Sunday was when he was coming and he promised to be here on Sunday. Sunday came and went and when I attempted to call him and he would not answer his phone. He is a liar and a cheat and does shoddy work. He put in a sorry looking gate and both sides of my house, as if he didn't know what he was doing or how to cut the wood. He used the 30 year old hardware from my old gates (instead of new hardware that should have been standard for the job) and then put it upside down on the new gates so that I cannot open the new gates from the outside of the fence. He promised to fix some sidewalk decking that runs across the back of my house so my son's wheelchair could roll better along it so he could get to the patio better, but all he did for it was replace about 4 boards with untreated wood. So this time next year I will be replacing them, because they will rot. He promised to power wash my deck "so my old deck would look new and fresh with the new fencing", but needless to say this too was a lie. This man can not be trusted. He promised to fix a gutter that drains wrong and needs to go under more decking on the other side of my house, but again this too was a lie. I can't emphasize it enough that he is full of untruths and he is a swindler. He will say anything to you to get the job. If I had not stayed on him and his crew they would have done my fence with untreated lumber. He should never receive any recommendations from your site again. If this is the kind of people you help get work then you need to change the way y'all do business. I will be glad to send you pictures to back up my claims. It's really sad to do this to folks. Comments: Work was slow but steady, much heat and periods of rain contributed.Bidding/contract process could have been more thourough and professional,

Comments: Overdid clean up, cutting down numerous plants and bushes that should have not touched. Went into my garage and helped himself to many, many items. Upon threat of calling police, a few items returned. Damage to exterior cannot be replaced.Magnolia TX
