While garages are usually associated with automobiles, one location recently opened up its Cleveland, Ohio garage doors to bicycles. That’s right, a garage in the Gateway district spent $600,000 to convert some of its space to a bike station that can store 50 bikes, and even offers a locker room, shower and bike-repair shop. Cyclists commuting to work can use this haven for a mere $5 a day, and environmentalists hope it will persuade more people to forgo their drive in to work and opt for the two-wheel commute instead. But this isn’t the first initiative the city has adopted in order to become more accessible to cyclists. When the bikers leave the safety and security of these Cleveland garage doors, services such as bike racks on buses and bike paths to travel on await them as well.
