Travertine tile backsplash in the kitchen

We were so excited. We had just bought a new home and wanted to do little remodeling to make it exactly the way we liked it. Our plans included installing a travertine tile backsplash in the kitchen and a brick fireplace surround and hearth for the living room.

I looked online for a tile expert and found several people. To help me choose the right contractor to work with, I asked them all for samples of their previous tiling jobs so I could compare.

When I chose one of the tile contractors, we sat down together and discussed my requests, which meant a lot to me.

The project took him more than a week altogether, because it expanded along the way from 40 feet of travertine in the kitchen to 60 feet of tile altogether. He showed up on time, worked hard, and cleaned up after himself.

Now the job is done, we are getting lots of compliments on the beautiful tile work.

I have some advice for anyone who is planning to install tile in their home. Think in advance  of the layout that you would like. Make sure your contractor understands what you want and find out from him whether your idea is possible to carry out.
