Work Description: Hardwood floor install/refinish
Comments: Gustavo sold us a job for our house to remove the existing carpet, refinish the existing red oak floors and install red oak and finish the rest of the house where there used to be carpet. We were told by Gustavo before the job started that he subcontracted the removal and sanding, but that he would be doing most of the finishing work. Turns out that Gustavo does NONE of the work, he subcontracts it all. In fact, until we repeatedly called and texted Gustavo about halfway into the job, Gustavo had not even been out to the house to inspect the work. There was one doorway that had a large gap between the trim and the flooring that we expected to be corrected before finishing. Gustavo claimed that was the "builder's fault" and not his responsibility. Gustavo had to be contacted several times more to inspect the work performed. Upon completion, we found several spots that were not finished as well as a door that was removed unnecessarily and not put back on the hinges, and two air vents that would not fit back into place. Gustavo's response was to hem and haw about builder errors until my wife finally got him to come out and fix the errors. While he reluctantly fixed the air vents (which the installer could clearly tell would be an issue) he did not fix the door. Gustavo claims to be a master tradesman with 20 years experience, but could not figure out how to adjust a door so that it closed properly and latched shut. Turns out, two of the hinges were bent from the subcontractors improperly removing the door from the hinges, and they just had to bent back into place. Took all of 10 minutes for someone to do. My recommendation is to look elsewhere for your wood floor needs. The workmanship and customer experience sold does not match the work that is performed.
