Work Description: Tile/Counters/Vanities

Comments: UPDATE II:
After my mom, me and my husband sent some pretty strong messages on Monday. Lamont defensively and unapologetically sent crew to pick up trash on Tues. As if it was our fault that he wasn?t communicating and out of pocket for the majority of Monday after promising trash pick up would happen. Because of such poor communication and lack of customer service this now gets knocked down to a one star experience. And I would not recommend him or his crew to do any job. Especially since my mom had to hire an outside plumber because his guy Milton installed leaky pipes in BOTH bathrooms and there was grout/construction gunk in the back of the toilet so it stopped working altogether. We didn?t trust Milton to be able to resolve the issue since he had done a poor job to begin with. I tried to give a fair review of our entire experience only to conclude: *****DO NOT HIRE THIS CONTRACTOR OR HIS INEPT CREW!!!!*****

UPDATE I:
On receiving payment for job, Lamont stated that the piles of construction demo trash in backyard, from the remodel, would be picked up first thing Monday morning. Monday has come to an end without any pickup and a void of detailed communication about ETA and follow thru. That lack of integrity of keeping to his word has brought review down to 2 stars. If Tues comes and goes with no trash pick up. This review will be posted to BBB and will be updated on Porch.com to 1 Star, about this kind of unprofessionalism.

Overview: detailed quality control throughout job was lacking; concise communication and workers working clean/thoughtfully was an issue, otherwise this could?ve been 5 stars.

Pros: Granite looks fantastic and was at a great price point. The vanities had an excellent price point for a modern custom look once installed properly. Material quality was good and once Lamont and his crew understood the finishing work, they did everything they could to do the finishing work and complete the job. Lamont took time to meet with Insurance company to fight to get more money for damages that had occurred from a leaky pipe, which was very much appreciated!

Cons: Job took about 6 weeks longer than projected. Crew was very messy which created more finishing work for them. Such as having to repaint due to copious grout on the walls from dirty hands and splashes. This crew needed more supervision from contractor than what they received. Job completion kept getting pushed back due to lack of eye to detail. With more eye to detail, more oversight and direction, along with thorough concise communication this job could?ve gone a lot more smoothly for everyone.

Highlights: I would recommend this company to do small jobs that mainly consisted of painting/granite/woodwork as long as you?re willing to monitor the details yourself. (Example: at first the vanities were installed with drawers hitting door frames and could only be opened half way. Which they fixed to our satisfaction, but did not catch on their own accord.) The floor install was a struggle and the crew had difficulties installing tile with evenly spaced grout lines. Crew needs more coaching on how to lay vertical tiles and how to properly use spacers in general. I would not recommend for tile job unless I knew the crew had been vetted and received more training/coaching about how to work clean and show detailed work on multiple jobs. Same with vinyl that was installed in kitchen. One piece had a rip in it, which they fixed to our satisfaction. However, if we hadn?t caught that, they were going to leave it installed torn and with dried glue all over kitchen. They fixed everything to satisfaction other than grout lines everywhere all different sizes. But not much could be done without literally ripping all the tile up and starting over again, which none of us wanted.

This could?ve been a higher rating with more thorough oversite and supervision and if workers hadn?t created more work for themselves due to sloppy floor install.

This contractor is reliable to the extent that he will not take your money and run. However, his crew would?ve been more successful as a whole with Lamont dropping in more often throughout the project to do quality control. Or if Lamont was unable to come out on a regular basis to do QC, he should have been sending someone else to QC more often.

For some this company will be a perfect fit for your price point and needs. For others that are a bit type A and perfectionistic it might be vexing for you as a customer and even for Lamont?s crew to have thorough attention to detail.

Work Description: Put on new roof, painted inside walls and ceiling and did drywalling.

Comments: Please heed this warning and do not mess with this company. I've written reviews on here about how bad of a job Lewis and his people on my ceiling. Several areas are just missing. He was contracted and paid well to put a new roof on my home, do some drywalling, paint three rooms and paint the continuous ceiling and I have a 3-year written warranty for the work that was done in the spring of 2017. Lewis has been unwilling to send anyone over here to repaint the ceiling. But while I I thought that was bad, I was in my backyard tonight and noticed that an entire section of my roof is missing and several shingles are bunched up and it appears they did not take off the old roof. They simply and lazily laid shingles on top of the old one and apparently missed an entire section because I have never seen one fallen shingle in my yard. This is a complete mess and guess what, Lewis isn't responding. He continues to take my posts down and he went as far as to complain to the operators of this blog website. I sent them picture, receipt and text messages of him acknowledging the need to repaint the ceiling so I was told my posts would remain. Apparently they have not. If you would like to see picture proof of the quality work Lewis and his crew does please email me at teeharris5@aol.com and I will be glad to send you his work. I even recommended this guy for a $10,000 job prior to seeing that his work does hold up and that he doesn't stand by his word. You would have think the business I helped him pull in alone would have made him come complete this job. But it did not. I will have no choice but to take Wood & More Works to court. In the meantime, stay far away from this guy. He doesn't know what he is doing and he is unprofessional.

Work Description: Tile, floor board, outdoor window frame

Comments: I hired this company in September of 2017 to place about 2 feet of tile in front of a newly installed back kitchen door, to nail back a kitchen floor board from hurricane Harvey water damage, and to replace one wood board around the outside kitchen window frame that leaked from the hurricane. This was a small $500 job. The grout they used for the tile is MUCH darker than the existing grout on the kitchen floor and the floor board started separating from the wall weeks later. I contacted Lewis 2 weeks after the job to notify him of the issue and I was told on several occasions over se wall months "we'll come back out. " I have been emailing and texting Lewis every since September and I have yet to get this company to come out and fix this issue. I even mention I was expecting house guests for the holidays. 4 months later and now my texts and calls go unanswered. I've also asked for a receipt to show that I paid in full. The only receipt I have is the receipt that was given to me the day the work started showing that I put half down. My email request for a final receipt goes unanswered to this day. I recommend you find a more professional company for your job. Now I have to hire another company to fix the work behind them.

Work Description: Install carpet in one room.

Comments: I have hired this contractor but the work is yet to be done because I ordered a carpet that has not arrived yet. It should arrive in about 3 weeks. So far Mr. Lewis has been very cooperative. The work is expected to be completed soon. I will have a better assessment then.
