Work Description: Runners for Modular Home

Comments: Mr. Smith did not know what he was doing, even though he lead the customer to believe he and his crew knew exactly what to do and had done similar work in the past. When my husband questioned him from the beginning on what he was doing and why, he explained which didn't make sense. His story changed each time we talked to him. When we, customers, requested for a site inspection from the representatives who report to the State of Texas that the job was done correctly and to code, they informed us that the job was being completed wrong and that they would not pass the job nor deliver our modular home. Mr. Smith with Smithco Concrete became very upset with the site inspectors, told them they didn't know that they were talking about and then ended up calling another professional out, who was recommended by the modular home company, who ended up telling him the exact same information. Mr. Smith walked the job and left rented equipment on our property. As owners of the property, we told Mr. Smith that a 24 hour noticed must be given before he came back so we could ensure someone was on site to oversee him and what he was picking up or doing; as we had from the beginning; which he agreed to. However, unannounced, Mr. Smith went back to the site to collect the rest of the supplied materials without approval. The good thing was we had and still have evidence, including law enforcement that knows he was there and law enforcement even had to escort him away from the property. The quote he gave us was extremely high and the work was poorly started. Mr. Smith is very aggressive to obtain business but does not do 1/2 of what he says will be completed. We do not recommend this company to anyone wanting the job done correctly, timely, or within a reasonable price. Oh yea, during this whole process, the first day of the job being started, the number one illegal person, yes we found out later on that the individuals doing the job do not have papers to be in the States, that Mr. Smith had working quite because he approached Mr. Smith telling him he was having them do the job wrong and it wouldn’t hold the modular home being delivered. As my husband stated, who saw the entire event unfolding, that Mr. Smith didn’t like the fact that his staff was telling him he was doing the customer wrong and he knew it. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.
In respone to the Moore's letter the to networks is False .Time was spent with the Moore's for over to weeks when they decided to give Smitco Concrete a down payment for the job with a sign contract .They when back and fore on this project then for sometime. Work Description: Repaired slab from burnout; refaced surface.

Comments: Mr.Smith answered our request within 10 minutes and came out the same day. He and his crew came out the next day and did an outstanding job.

Only one other contractor replied to the request, and it was after the job was done.

Work Description: Repair or replace curbing at our dealership

Comments: Initially, the work was unsatisfactory in that they mostly did a cosmetic cover vs lasting repair. I contacted the supervisor with my concerns and he quickly had the crew back on the job with the proper repairs/replacement. With that focus, the job was completed to my satisfaction and very timely...within a day. I will use Smith again when the need arises.

Work Description: Cap an existing slab and pour a perimeter beam wall.

Comments: Forming work was rushed and poorly executed. Failed to install J bolts and scuttle access. Slab was out one inch from front to back in terms of level. Finish work was done with no power trowel and is rough. This was supposed to be a finished floor for staining and varnish. Too rough to use that way.
Footings and dirt work were inconsistent although the finished product should serve our needs. The job created extra work for the framing crew to create a level set of walls.
The price was acceptable. The crew was friendly and efficient even though the quality of the work indicated a lack of either experience or dedication to quality.
The quoted price was increased by three hundred dollars when the crew arrived to do the work.
I probably would not recommend this contractor to other clients. Would be OK for driveways and sidewalks but not for finish work. Too rushed. Contractor wanted payment in cash.
