Comments: Excellent work by Oscar and his team. They started the work two weeks early, and it took 4.5 days to complete the job. They had to take out the old walkout lumber and replace with stone. It was a big job, and they were up to the task.Bel Air MD

Work Description: Paver Patio
Comments: Horrible, I wouldn't recommend Oscar Padilla and Solid Brick Contracting to anyone. The project started off fine, but once issues starting coming up, incorrect cuts, paver problems, forgot to lay down paver fabric, pool coping mistakes, that's when things got really bad. If you have him do your pool coping don't even think of hiring him, they are not experienced with pools at all. Oscar shows lack of professionalism and a really bad attitude. Oscar literally screamed "God **** it" two different times at me and my wife when we pointed out mistakes by his crew. No one screams like that at my wife ,he did apologize for that but his attitude was still very bad after that. He had to redo the pool coping twice due to major mistakes by his team, and it still has issues that he didn't come out to replace after almost 3 months. ,I would post pictures of all the problems but I don't see an option here on Angies list. While trying to get these issues resolved, he cancelled roughly 5 times on us since he was paid him initially and its still not fixed. Him and his crew have NO attention to detail, very poor workmanship. Lastly, on the final day we noticed defects with the pavers, and we reported the problem to him ( He told us wait a day or so and it will come off with soap and water, it never came off) and the manufacture. Fast forward 2 months, the manufacture agreed to send out replacement pavers at no cost, but Solid Brick Contracting expects me the customer to pay twice for labor. The manufacture stated that Oscar Padilla should of never put these pavers down since they were defective. Bottom line is do not hire Oscar Padilla and Solid Brick Contracting, the price may seem good at first, but the unprofessional-ism, lack of quality, and failure to respond once the job has been paid for is unacceptable.Bel Air MD

Work Description: repair 4 retaining walls and bring paver patio back to level after erosion
Comments: Extremely satisfied with the work! Mr. Padilla responded promptly to my request for an estimate and work was completed within the time frame he gave me. Workers came on time; worked all day being careful of landscaping and yard, were polite and cleaned up well before leaving. Mr. Padilla was onsite for some of the time and his crew did everything we contracted for including strengthening the wall foundations and, in addition, securing loose caps on another wall. They asked for our inspection when they finished and Mr. Padilla called to make sure we were satisfied. We paid a deposit when we signed the contract, and paid the rest of the bill after work was done and we checked it. We would hire this company again and recommend them. 3/20/19Parkville MD

Everything was cleaned up and left as it was in the beginning. The new patio matches the existing patio. I am very pleased with the patio and their work. Comments: I’ve had a really bad and Un professional experience with Oscar Padilla and his company solid brick contracting LLC. I paided him to lay some paver stones on my front walkway and back patio and he did a fair job. But he ruined my grass because he fail to order the needed dumpster on time. They where using the restroom in my yard which I couldn’t believe. we set A scheduled day to start and Oscar and his crew showed up when he felt like it and then got upset with me because I wouldn’t leave work to open my lock Gate. He was really attentive when he wanted the job but after he finish not so much at all. Im having issues with the work and Oscar Refuses to come out to see an address the issues. Don’t pay all upfront. He set up four different appointments to come out to do the work after I called and text him a lot of times. That’s not how you run a busy from A customer who spent $10,000 with you. I gave him ample enough time to come out repair work and be done with me but now I’m in the process of filing court papers, because he stopped answering the phone or text, he just doesn’t want to stand behind his work I have a quite of .few issues that need to be addressed. I hated the fact i was force to go this route but he left me no Choice.i would never recommend solid brick contracting Per Oscar Padilla to anyone or ever use him again because he will not come out and stand behind his work. So buyers beware he will not get away with this he will have to explain to a judge about it. Thanks Andrew

Work Description: Solid Brick contracting was contracted to remove an existing concrete walkway and brick patio and replace them with a bluestone and brick border as show in the pictures.
Comments: I would like to caveat anything I say here by simply stating that the pictures below are, in fact, the work that was completed by Solid Brick Contracting. If you feel the quality of work displayed in these pictures is professional, then you can ignore this review, but I do recommend reading because their responsiveness after I paid for the job in full was essentially nonexistent. This may concern you if you have similar issues in the beginning or in a year from now if you have a warranty issue.After the job was complete and I paid in full (my mistake), I contacted Solid Brick Contracting on 5/3/2018 via email. To date (6/19/2018), they have not even come out to look at the issues, let alone address them. They have made 4 attempts to schedule something, but they never followed through or cancelled.
My main issue is with the brick work around the porch. I actually mentioned some of the issues below to Solid Brick Contracting before I paid. They said that the pressure washing and cleaning would address the issue regarding the mortar residue and the mortar joint shaping, uniformity and smoothness. I did find this hard to believe, but I gave it a chance. My mistake was really not allowing it to dry overnight before paying him because it was still wet when I came home so it made everything look uniform. (Note: Just as a side note, notice that a lot of the pictures in the reviews on various sites show it wet. This hides a lot of the imperfections and I assume that is why they do it.)
While the pressure washing did remove a bit of the mortar residue, it did very little if anything for the uniformity and smoothness of the shaping of the mortar joints. As I see it, here are the issues with the brick work still:
1) There is still a lot mortar residue on the surface of the bricks around the whole porch.
2) There is significant color variation in the mortar joint.
3) The brick pattern is not consistent. (I don’t know why I didn’t notice that before I paid, but I didn’t). The top row on the left side and one of the rows on the right side does not match the offset pattern of all of the other brick work.
4) The bricks are not level, plum, or laid flat. The surface looks jagged as you can see.
5) The color of bricks also do not match, they replaced 3 bricks in the bottom row on the left side. You can clearly see which ones they are.
6) The difference in the widths of the mortar joints in general on the brick around the porch is significant. They should all be uniform in width.
7) The mortar joints themselves should be smooth and shaped evenly through the entirely of the work. They are clearly not.
Oddly enough, the brick work on the border of the walkway is relatively fine. I am not sure what happened on the porch. It is such poor craftsmanship that I cannot accept it. I don’t see any other option other than completely removing the brick border on the porch and redoing.
In addition to the brick work, they also left A LOT of mortar residue on my concrete driveway and left the debris from the excavation in my backyard. If it was clean fill, I would not mind, but it ended up being almost all rock and pebbles. Rock up to 4” or 5” in diameter and A LOT of it. I cannot even run over that area with my lawnmower or it will damage it. I asked him to address this before I paid hem and it appears they didn’t do it or did a poor job doing it. I should have checked that before I paid, but I just didn’t. There were a few other things not done to contract, but I did not mention them here, but may decide to as the resolution to these issues progress.
Prior to being paid in full, Solid Brick Contract was quite responsive, fair in price, punctual, and professional and I would have rated them highly in these categories if they didn’t completely ignore my concerns after I paid them. This is the true test of a professional contractor in my opinion and I am sure others would agree.
These are the picture of the work they did and they did essentially become unresponsive after I paid. This IS a HUGE flag if you are considering to hire them regardless of whether you think I am picky. They didn’t even come to my house to look at the issues yet, let alone address them. Good luck if you choose to go with this company, but I highly recommend going elsewhere.
