Work Description: Switches/Outlets/Fixtures - Repair

Comments: It was determined the Main breaker appeared to have shorted out in my house but the electrician (Daniel the owner of PES) didn't have a new one with him; thus he said he would have to order one which would take a few days. However, to get me out of the dark/cold, he took a hammer and whacked the existing breaker a few times which to my surprise restored the power and cost me $125 (trip charge). Based on his advice, I told him to go ahead and order a new one to minimize my risk of losing power again which he said he would do and we made an appointment for Friday (6 days later).

After not hearing from him to confirm the part had arrived, I called on Thursday and was told by Daniel we would need to reschedule for the following week because the part had yet to arrive, so we did for the next Friday.

Again, the day before the appointment, I called since I hadn't heard anything and Daniel confirmed the part had arrived and he and/or his crew would be at my house the next day right at 1pm.

At 2:30 on the day of the appointment, I decided to call again since no one had arrived or called me to tell me they were running late. I left a message on Daniel's VM asking him to pkease call me. After waiting an additional 30 minutes, I called and left another VM telling him to cancel the work order.
Mr. Patterson's comments are somewhat correct but very biased. First of all, the initial trip was on the weekend and was about 8:30 pm Friday night. I tried to reset the main breaker several times but with no success. After diligently searching for a main breaker on line we exhausted all options as there not (1) in town to be had. I did explain to him that I knew old trick that sometimes worked but couldn't promise him that it would. After smacking the casing of the main breaker several times while applying force to the handle the breaker contacts re-engaged providing power to the home. I then told him that this was a temporary fix and that the main breaker should be replaced. He stated that he could order the breaker if we would install it but seemed as though he wanted to pay me when we returned. I stated that this trip was a service call and he would need to pay me for that trip and the next trip was an additional service call charge. He then took me into the residence to see a ceiling fan he wanted installed as well and acted like he wanted me to do it then also . I wasn't in a service vehicle and was without the tools needed plus at that point it was after 9 pm . I told him that we would be happy to install ithe fan on our return trip for 100.00 on top of the 125.00 normal hours trip charge and that we wouldn't charge him an install price on the main breaker as well. He then stated that he wanted me to order the main breaker as to assure that the right breaker was ordered, I conceded. I told him that I would and that I would also order it without an upcharge but he needed to pay for the breaker then. He agreed, I also told him that I was only going to charge him a regular trip charge of 125.00 + 67.00 for the breaker even though it was after hours and on the weekend which would have normally been 175.00. He brought me a check out to the vehicle for a 125.00 and still expected me to order the breaker, so I did and stated that he could pay for it on the install charge. The breaker was ordered and wasn't in by our pre-arranged appointment of Friday March 6th. The breaker finally came in on the 11th and yes we set an appointment for 1 pm Friday March 13th. The service van that was slated to make that install lost the transmission on Interstate 77 unknown to me and in the chaos, no one called Mr. Patterson to let him know we were experiencing problems that had prevented us from reaching his residence on time. I was personally sitting in a very important meeting and he called me several times but unfortunately I was unable to answer. Instead of calling my office which could have easily handled the situation and would have informed him of our situation. No, he just continued to call my phone until I answered after leaving my meeting. At that point he was very unpleasant and stated that he was cancelling the appointment without allowing me to find out why my techs hadn't made the appointment on time. This kind of customer is why we don't normally do residential service work ! You can't make them happy as they are a miserable person looking to take everything out on someone else.
