Work Description: Installation of floating steps
Comments: I contracted for floating steps and they arrived a day later than scheduled to do the work. They had one guy do 99% of the work, stating that they were "training the Mexican to do all the work" which he did while the other 2 stood/sat around watching most of the time.What they ended up installing was ordinary steps which were not at all floating . The risers are close to 8 inches and should have been 1/2 of that. There was not ground preparation, use of base gravel or rebar (all of which I was charged for). The work is sub par, not level and began pitting right away. It was supposed to be exposed aggregate which was not exposed in all areas, was crooked, as well as many other issues. After their business leads were put on hold, only then did they begrudgingly agree to come out and "fix" the work (keep in mind they "guarantee" their work). 4 hours before they were to arrive, I received the following:

Sending me an email less than 4 hours before you are scheduled to arrive is absolutely unacceptable.
Please consider the following:
I have taken time off this week to accommodate the completion of this project. I have forgone any holiday plans with family and friends to accommodate completion of this project. You indicate that you are still working on projects from last week - My project has been in limbo for quite some time. In other words my project should be a priority over any others that started after mine. I was clear about the fact that I have Home Owner Association restrictions that require me to have this project completed within a certain time frame, for which has passed. I was also clear about the fact that I have restrictions by the state of California that require me to have this project completed within a certain time frame (December 1, 2018) or I will lose the $900 that I was approved for upon completion of the project. You provided me with a guarantee as well as your word that this would be completed. I took the funds from my retirement account in order to complete this project

I have been patient, flexible, and have done everything possible to find an amicable resolution to this situation. The bullet points above are just a few of many point that I can make. Not to mention they charged me for work and materials that were not received/done.
This all is just a very SMALL glimpse into this situation. In the end, I have had to file a complaint with the State Contractors Board, the BBB, and will be filing suit against them if they do not refund my money.
I've been told that they have had similar problems with other customer's, and it is my understanding that the person that they made do all the work was paid merely $200 for a weeks worth of work. That speaks volumes.
We finally agreed upon a refund of only a partial refund, which they paid part of and did not keep their agreement to pay the remaining and biggest chunk of the money.

Comments: They showed up a day later than scheduled.The crew was good and did a good job. Owner, not so much. He came by mid job and showed up to collect money. He said they qould be bacl on Monday to remove forms. On Tuesday, i told them rock was being delivered and I need forms gone. They said okay. It is Weds night and I never heard from them again.
I do not recommend them.
