Work Description: Spent 5-7 minutes in bathroom, no repairs were needed. Installed new ceiling fan. Seemed to take longer then expected. Thought cost was kind of steep for what was done.

This homeowner previously left us a 5-star review on this same job, yet in that review she also expressed some comments that I'd like to address. She states that no repairs were needed in the bathroom. This is false. One of the reasons she called us in to troubleshoot was due to the fan not working in the bathroom. The exhaust fan was completely disassembled as the homeowner had attempted to repair it himself. I reassembled it, fixed a broken socket and installed it properly. In regards to installing a new ceiling fan, there is more to the story. The husband had assembled the new fan prior to my arrival, but it was done completely wrong and could not be installed in the way he put it together. I had to take the entire fan apart and reassemble it correctly. When I went to remove the old ceiling fan, I found the box barely hanging on by a loose screw. The homeowners were at risk for injury with the way they had things installed. As I worked to repair the loose box and wiring before installing the new fan, the homeowners followed me. They could see I was actively working quickly and efficiently the entire time. Since the husband stated that he had built the house and installed the wiring himself, they felt confident of which switches controlled things but they were wrong. When I proceeded to find the actual working switches, they were surprised. They had no idea what some of the switches controlled. I reiterated several times that I was working on labor time as they continued to ask me about wiring issues in the home. The bill was for the exact amount I had quoted in accordance with our troubleshooting rates. While I was in the home they said they were happy with the work performed, so this homeowner's comments came as a surprise. Unfortunately, I feel as if this is a case where the homeowner's DIY attempts caused more harm than help, and they were unhappy they had to pay to have these dangerous issues corrected.

He was in the bathroom issue for about 5-8 minutes which was very minor, no repair needed, put old figure in place .Proceed to installing ceiling fan. Old fan was eliminated and new one was assembled by my husband. He said he didn’t know where the box was and the loose wire was.This went on for several minutes bringing up the final cost. He finally assembled the fan and had no difficulty getting power. When we settled the bill, he was much higher than the quote which was $ 300 something. When we paid in cash $525, he proceeded to pitch the electrical surge, which he could install for $750. I really didn’t appreciate, that, on top of the bill .

Comments: We hired Kato Electric in a bit of a panic. A major winter storm was approaching, large parts of the state were anticipated to lose power, and my wife and I just had a baby.

Not wanting to lose power in single-digit temps, I bought a generator. The house was already wired with a transfer switch, but we discovered there was a disparity between the generator's amperage and what the house's plug would accept (30 vs 20).

Kato Electric was able to come the next day before the storm and made the upgrade in short time. They were friendly, professional, and reasonable. We never did lose power, but being able to use that generator would have been a lifesaver (and I'm sure will be in the future). Highly recommended!

Comments: My husband and I bought our first EV to be delivered Xmas Eve. Needed a competent electrician with experience to install our home charging unit. Reached out to two local electricians and received no response. Put my name in the Networx site and the same day was called by Kato Electronics. Kato was knowledgeable and informative and his easygoing manner completely demystified this whole new EV world these two old dogs were learning about! Between first contact and the actual installation, Kato responded in minutes to a number of our questions via text, and even came by the house in advance to look over the site so he would have the right tools the day of the install. And his price was right in the expected range. COMPLETELY satisfied and will DEFINITELY use Kato again and recommend him highly!
