Work Description: Basement renovation including a half bath installation, laundry room, floor installation and storage closets.
Comments: I would recommend Helio and his team without a single reservation! At the onset of our job, Helio first met with us and discussed at length the specifics of what we were looking for in our basement renovation. Our wish list was extensive and included moving pipes and plumbing, changing the staircase, installing a new window, creating a half bathroom and laundry room, and building lots and lots of closets for storage. He then put us in the very capable hands of our project manager, Van, who was a pleasure to work with; Van saw to every detail and made sure of our satisfaction at each step along the way. He also offered suggestions based on his extensive expertise that helped the overall project significantly. The craftsmanship and expertise of each of the team members was outstanding - from construction, carpentry and woodworking, to tiling, painting and flooring - and we quickly learned that there wasn't anything we would ask for that they could not accommodate and accomplish beautifully. Our finished basement is beyond our expectations and we could not be happier with how it turned out. We plan to use HM Construction for all of our projects in the future!Danbury CT

Work Description: Sunroom Renovation/Expansion
Comments: Helio and his team were brought in to help renovate/expand a sun room into a family room. It was completed and it looks nice but we had some issues along the way. Communication was difficult at times. There was not a lot of heads up given to scheduling. We had one issue where the cement being delivered for the foundation was almost not delivered, and I was told it'd cost me another 3k to get it redelivered. My issue was, why wasn't I told about this earlier in the week, why didn't someone put signs out a few days earlier to clear the area in order to access the property? Instead I had to rush home and hire a tow truck company to move my neighbors car a few hundred feet. Another issue arrived with the installation of hardwood floors, as I also had a fireplace added to the room. The issue occurred when I tried to get another contractor a date as to when they could install the floors. Upon some back and forth I realized that they forgot that they needed to install the fireplace, and that it needed to be done ahead of the hardwood floor installation. Most recently, I had an issue (1.5 yrs since completion) with the LED movie lights, which began flickering. When I opened up the light switch box, I noticed one side of the box had been cut back to make enough space to slip the LED power driver behind the wall. The device was not installed properly with its own electrical box, and it melted surrounded by the insulation. I'm fairly sure that's a short cut, and not up to code. When I asked for him to review and fix, I was told that the 1 year warranty expired. Nice to know that my 80K+ renovation falls into the category of a faulty lightbulb. I think there's a difference between a broken device vs. questionable wiring.
