Comments: In general, he is friendly man, charged me a price I could afford and got the job done quickly. I appreciated his prompt response to my request for a contractor and in replacing the motor of my furnace, but I felt he was a bit rushed and sloppy. He did not show me the receipt of the motor he purchased - so I don't know the actual price and whether it was new or reconditioned - nor did he itemize labor and parts on my bill. I would have appreciated these details and realize I should have been more assertive in demanding them. In addition, I have qualms about his use of electrical tape to secure certain elements of the motor; he offered a vague explanation for doing so that did not quite put to rest my concerns: something about not being able to find a replacement for the very old original motor and having to improvise a bit ( as I understand his explanation). My final concern is that he said he would attempt to clean the outer casings - which were dusty and greasy - but he apparently did not do so and - then - left a trail of dirt near the closet where the furnace is located - and on my deck. While I am grateful that I have heat, I worry how long it will last because of these lingering questions. His price was quite reasonable compared to another in-person estimate I received but it was in range with other contractors who called me later and gave me phone estimates for the job. The higher estimate also involved thoroughly cleaning the casing, so upon afterthought, I don't know if what I payed constituted as much of a discount as originally appeared. This man is eager and doesn't waste time - the last being a huge plus for a contractor in my experience, many of whom chat and waste time and then charge you for it - but I feel he could have been more thoughtful and careful in carrying out a job and explaining to the customer all aspects of it. I hope the job is sustainable for at least another year or two until I can afford a new furnace - and wish I felt more confident. And finally, under the category of "style" and perhaps not as important: while pleasant, the man is likely in my age range - perhaps a bit younger - (50's) - yet I felt he treated me a bit dismissively - like I'm an old lady who doesn't need to know anything. Could just be me, but the aftereffect made me wonder if I had been bamboozled. When your furnace is not working for several days in late winter, you are vulnerable and anxious to resolve the problem. Be careful and don't be shy about asking as many questions as you need to.

Work Description: Repair Furnace Motor

Comments: Very sweet, down-to-earth person who responded promptly and was at my home addressing my problem within an hour. His price was much more reasonable than other estimates I received to repair my furnace's motor. Even though my furnace is quite old and will likely need replacement soon, he made no attempt at "up-selling" me. He understood what I can afford now and with his repair, likely extended the life of my furnace for another few years. And, I have heat for the first time in several days.

Comments: Do not hire Heat Shock if you want quality work or want a friendly contractor that cares about your concerns. The owner likes to sell quickly and install TOO quickly. When I requested that Heat Shock owner Victor Lopez rehang the air handling unit to fully cover the 3" utility hole
he drilled in our living room, he became irritated and walked off the job, leaving me with a gaping hole in my wall. He then guilted me about his price. It appeared he was running behind schedule and wanted to rush installation of the two used and scratched mini split units (recently removed and salvaged from State of CT buildings) in just 45 minutes, and rush to his next job, without concern for asthetics. Buyer beware!
Unfortunately the circumstances surrounding our abrupt cancellation of the job had to do with being over bearing and the homeowner not willing to let us do our job and we reserve the right to not do any job as the business owner there was never any contract in place and the homeowner was informed and left a couple of different Messages including a text message that we have no issue repairing the wall and the homeowner never responded to our request with anything we would love to be able to help out the customer But the customer have to be willing to Let the combat veteran HVAC professional with over 20 years of experience do the job and that the customer was overbearing and demanding and getting in the way of the contractor being able to complete his mission in a timely manner the unit in the company stock that had been refurbished and with getting the unit for less than a quarter of the price as stated before no contract with ever put into place therefore we reserve the right to cancel the job at any time We offered several times to send our personal Carpenter out to repair the small 3 inch hole in the wall with zero response from the customer and we would’ve taken care of the bill
