Comments: Quoated Price as $2500. during work assesment at time of contract signing (next day) price went up $500, reason, miscalculated orginal price. On first day of work I presented a 10% discount coupon offered by Active Builders (internet) and was not honored because I was alread given a discount ???? Out of 13 days at th work site workers (Reid's Tile & Bath) did not show up nor called 4 days (1 day the first wk, 2 days 2nd wk, and 1 day last wk. This was addressed the first week but it continued. Towards the end of the job (3rd week) workers got sloppy and seemed in a rush to finish the work. Closet doors were painted poorly, while installing electrical outlet under kitchen sink cabinets became separated and worker reattached them useing screws, which were to long and came through on the other side (very unsightly) On last day of work, workers seemed in a great rush and wanted to leave 2 hours after arrival. If it was not for the Contractor (Sam), who arrived prior to their departure, they would have left debrie, poorly painted closet doors, bathroom mirror not hung, back wall over kitchen sink not painted, microwave vent outlet not sealed, light fixture in kitchen area not installed, outlet and waterheater connection not repaired. During the last week the worker informed me that he could not install formica counter top because of the angel at the end of the counter top. I ordered a granite counter top bu it did not arrive before the work was completed so he agreed to come back to connect sink after the counter top arrived. A few days later I called Sam to let him know the counter top had arrived and that there was a leak in the guest bathroom underneath the vanity they install along with the buckleing of a two laminate floor planks. He ask I call Neville (worker) directly who then told me he would call when he had a job in the area. Did not hear from him for several days. I called again but he never answered his cell phone. Contacted Sam again and he told me he would come on Saturday to connect the sink, fix the leak and look at the laminate floor. I had to cancel that appointment because I became ill. The following week I called Neville and he said he would be out on Tues or Wed. Did not hear from him and when I called no answer and I could not leave message because mail box was full. On Wed evening I called Sam and explained the situation and the lack of nor call no show. He contacted worker (Neville) called me back and told me he would be there Thurs. Again no call no show. On Thurs evening a called Sam and informed him that I was going to have someone else connected the sink and fix the leak on the upcoming Saturday if Neville did not show up before then. Sam had the nerve to reply by saying when They were ready on Saturday I cancelled, never keeping in mind that after I cancelled there were 3 no show no calls for scheduled dates. I paid for this work and asked for a refund to which I never got a reply. Also the workers had misplaced a box (5 pieces) of shut off valves ($10 each) which I had already purchased. The worker kept insisting that I needed to buy three more valves to complete the sink and vanity connections. I told him I had them available to him and if he lost them I should not be responsible to replace them. He always ignored me and kept asking me to purchase the valves. Finally, I was constantly asked to go buy materials needed to complete jobs, Molding, pumbling parts and paint, just to name a few. Towards the end I refused to go get material because, as I explained, I found it very frustrating buying materials I was not sure what exactly was the right material to buy. Nevile said it was costly for him to go and buy materials because it was costly to make these trips to pick up the materials. He even told me it cost him $50 to get to my house everytime he came out because he lives in Miami. Inconclusion, the work was a little below average. They did their best work on the large scale projects, i.e., tile and flooring but when it came to small projects they seemed disinterested and rushed through them. They also waited for the last week to tell me they could not do all the work scheduled (counter top install, fan install, outlet repair and water heater connection) which resulted in having the work contracted not fully completed when the workers left. Granted, I received a credit for the fan, counter top and garbage disposal but that's not the point. Overall, I found the workers lack good work ethics. They showed up late in the afternoon ( bewtween 2-4pm) everytime except for one day when they showed up at 11am, had too many no show no call and had me running around getting materials to complete work. I paid good money for the work and I was treated as if I did not matter as a customer. No show no calls and leaving me with unfinished work along with a leak and buckleing floor panels. Would not recommend these companies ( Active Builders or Reid's Tile & Bath) nor use Networx as a referral source.
