Ellen and Mark James established First Addition in 1989 in order to spend their time together, working and raising the kids. It's a match that works. Both are very creative . Mark has the skill to produce and Ellen the skill of organizing, defining, and making it happen.
Mark James, a master carpenter and job foreman, has carpentry abilities that show no bounds. When there is a will, there is a way to build it. . He also dabbles in creating projects from raw wood.When he finds a tree piece that inspires him there is no telling what it will turn into. Ellen James has the ability to visualize space and the creativity to change the look of that space. She can then take that vision and put it on paper. Together they are a team that works well. Time has given them the seasoning to foresee the pros and cons of a project.

They strive to make every project look like it grew there. By matching styles and materials, and with the vision of the clients, they create the spaces their individual clients are looking for. First Addition works with a network of tradesmen which gives it the ability to complete projects of any size. Being owner operated gives them the ability to give each project individual attention. This ensures the highest degree of quality control which is important when working on what could be their clients largest asset. Ellen and Mark take the time to listen to the clients ideas. They then hone the ideas, encourage using environmental awareness and recycling when chosing materials.
