Description: Established in 1957, Ellerman Roofing has long been providing quality roofs for south central Indiana. My Uncle Tommie began the roofing business with hot tar for flat roofs. One of my first jobs while in high school was to stock the hot kettle.

In the 1980's, the company transitioned to rubber roofs. While attending IU, I worked on the Assembly Hall rubber roof. Coach Knight didn't like seeing black patches on the roof and had us paint them white.

In the 1990's, our company was able to utilize the newest and most up-to-date technology and switched to heat weldable membrane roof systems. This allowed us to install white, cooler roofs in order to stay ahead of the competition and be a greener entity.

While flat roofs have been our forte over this period, we also install shingles for all residential and commercial needs. In 2012, the IU Foundation chose us to roof the historic Gables building on Indiana Avenue, where Hoagy Carmichael wrote Stardust. This job was part membrane and part shingles.
